American guys, how do you put up with american women?
Favorited (undo) 56 Comments

I work at a hostel in Germany and every time there is a group of American girls, everyone in the hostel just want to shoot their selves in the face. American girls are loud, annoying, inconsiderate, and easily offended by anything that they don't understand (ex. cultural differences, different perspective on life, etc). The one thing that really annoys me is that they are ridiculously self-centered and have little regard to others well-being. Also, they take very poor care of themselves and it shows physically.

No wonder the divorce rate in the USA is around 50%, I can't even imagine being married to any American girl. Also, the extreme feministic attitude of the American girls are just insane. Despite the number of advocate American feminists, American girls are so manly and not feminine at all. They act more like boys than girls. I have never met an American girl who acts like a true lady.

You American males need to man up and not let your manhood be dictated by your women(getting screwed over custody of children, divorce settlements, etc). Come one, have some respect for yourselves.

How do you American guys deal with this? The only good thing that the American girls taught me was that I am very lucky to be in a country with quality girls. I don't hate American girls though because they are the easiest girls for sex ;) they will do nasty things to anything that is foreign!! But I would never date one, unless I wanted to kill myself!!

If I was an American girl, I'd probably now be put off from going to a country where everyone hates me but will happily use me for sex. And this is in the hospitality industry. What must everyone else be like?

Just like how nobody should judge Germans by this post, nobody should judge a nation by their tourists (I'm English and we have the worst tourists of all) or by their television. People do things on holiday that are out of character and people appear on television little realising they are taking part in a freak show for the viewer's amusement.

I feel qualified to talk about American women because the longest relationship of my life was with an American. Funnily enough my first big relationship was also with an American, who had grown up in Poland and Germany before doing post-doctoral work in England. She was critical of Germans in strange ways (she said the church bells were annoying). I think that's probably a criticism of Europe as a whole; we all have church bells. But she was in Germany against her will and desperate for a life in America like her cousins.

I do think you're portraying Americans unfairly and also showing that kind of superiority we Europeans get accused of. Germany is a great country with some very nice people, as is America. The only one who is coming across badly here is you.

It is not my fault American girls have bad reputation. Interestingly enough, I have developed this view about American women from talking with American men. They are the one's who convinced me. The topic of American woman is a common occurrence with American male travelers.

I sometimes watch Jeremy Kyle, and I started watching the USA version for a while, and my God, I have to sometimes mute it, it gets that annoying, and suprise suprise when it's the females causing all the noise. I'm not basing all American females like the ones on that show, but I think atleast half or more are like that. Every female on that show screams and raves, won't shut up to let the other speak, and are completely disrespectful. The males on the show usually just sit there with the "why did I even come on here?" look because the American woman won't shut up and let anyone else speak.

I would hate to be married in America to an American girl. Despite them being so ignorant, I would have to deal with the laws that would support her and take everything from me, even when she was the problem.

You said exactly what I try to say to men, not to let women dictate their manhood. They have no right to do so, so shouldn't, and males shouldn't let them.

Sadly, males don't have much of a choice when it comes to legal issues such as child custody. The law favours women, and until there is a complete uprising of the male gender to fight against these inequalities in the law systems, then it isn't going to change.

From this, and you explanation of women and how you implied men don't allow women to dictate their manhood in your location, I believe that I might just decide to move and live in Germany whenever I get the chance.

*Note* This comment wasn't aimed at all American females, a lot of you know that I respect you on this site, some more than any male user on this site.

In Europe, American girls are known to be gullible and easy sex. Just tell them anything and they will believe it. It is actually kind of disturbing.

But yes,I love German girls because they value things that American girls do not. I believe American girls focus their values on the superficial aspects of life. I am not sure if this is the fault of American media but it is sad to me.

Perhaps the saddest thing about American male is that they are forced to value life through the eyes of american females. A man simply cannot be a man in America. I don't understand, there is nothing wrong with a man being a man. Yet american female perceive this as a threat to their gender. What? Why? I think you Americans are too concerned about being too politically correct to the point that it is doing no favor to anyone.

No offense but America is a weird place to me. In America you cannot drink alcohol until you are 21 yet you can go to war and take a human being's life at 18, obsession with fast food, obsession with hollywood, a free country built by slaves, promote equality yet emphasize on individuality, lack of focus on educational institutes (its absurd the amount of money you have to pay for university. That is a sin), etc.

Germany is not perfect, but I would never able to live in America. Maybe visit but never live. If you get a chance you should come to Germany (or Europe)and see for yourself of what I am talking about. Remember to learn some German though ;D

I have to say, I'm very interested in going Germany. I mean I was already, but now I'm even more fascinated to go. Your society sounds different from ours, America, in a good way though.

Oh and to answer your question. I avoid most girls that you've described. Most of my female friends respect their elders and are quite intelligent. Although, they can be a little rude, but who isn't.

Yes, I think you should visit not only Germany but other European countries as well. I believe it will be a great experience :)

I want to do that so badly. Although, aside from Europe, I really want to visit Japan.

Oooh!! I am actually saving up to go to Japan at the moment! It looks like such an interesting place!! :D

Yeah, I have to agree 100%. The last bit is quite saddening to me, I am not exactly great at learning new languages, but then again I've never tried too hard to learn.
I am actually thinking it would be better for someone like me to live in Germany, it sounds like a great place, and like all places, it has its bad parts, but respect is given to the male gender, which is rare today.

Learn German! Or any other language for that matter! Just learn the basics and emerge your self in the culture, it is the best way to learn another language. My English is not the best but that is how I learned it. It will open you up to a whole new world of opportunities!!

Are you a student? If so maybe you can do an exchange somewhere? Expand your perspective, experience the what its like to live away from your home country. Discover the world, but more importantly, discover more about yourself ;)

Not a student at the moment, just recently moved to Scotland, and I'll be becoming a student at some point. Perhaps they might have a class to learn German.

I don't see why someone gave you a thumbs down on your reply to me, so I'll thumbs it back up, there was no need for someone to thumbs your comment down.

I dont know why someone also gave you a thumbs down but I gave you a thumbs up. Probably that 'splashy' American girl poster...she deleted my response to her question! Coward...

I guess I would say the same about Europe- I would visit, but never live there. Although really, my only experience with Europe comes from visiting London. There were smokers everywhere, and trash all over the place.

FYI, the US isn't the only country that was "built" by slaves. You can thank our European ancestors for introducing slavery to both Americas.

But I will admit one thing about America- we are a very materialistic society. We're completely controlled by the media, I will admit that. However, that's one thing about the American society that I don't think will ever change.

This may sound really weird, and really out of character for me, but I would be very interested in seeing you (Or someone like you) have some sort of "men's movement", making things more equal for men when it comes to the law.

I'm totally not BS-ing here, I'm genuinely interested in how that would all play out.

Sadly, you make some good points. I am sorry, and it shames me to know that this is how you perceive the women of America. It might be hard for you to believe, but not all women here are like that.

Haven't met anyone who proved otherwise. Maybe one day.

It seems Americans (both men and women) have this "must be louder" attitude. If someone is making an argument, the American way to counter that is to shout as hard as possible so that nobody can hear the other person's voice...

Very annoying.

I have meet very few girls from anywhere else, as my southern Missouri location is about as shielded from the world as it gets. I thought every girl was like this.

I need to travel!

It's more like a country of assholes. Not just women. Of course there are always some that are mannered and polite but the majority is assholes.

It really sucks that Germans hate tomboys so much. You guys sound like real dicks. You also missed the point of feminism but that was probably a mistranslation so I guess that's OK.

Wow, I was expecting a lot of hate directed towards the OP, but instead even the American women seemed to be agreeing :/

I was going to say that I doubt they reflect the typical American woman, and bare in mind that type of American woman is the type you'll remember; loud, brash, promiscuous - the ones that do not conform to that stereotype could easily go unnoticed and forgotten by you because they don't act in such a manner, thus giving you a skewed impression of American women.

It's like British people. A lot of British people travel to Spain and other sunnier places on holiday - the problem is that some of them are travelling only to get tanned, drunk and fucked. The ones travelling to get tanned, drunk and fucked leave the biggest impression on the locals because they're the ones making all the noise, mess and trouble. The nice British travellers who go for more than skin cancer and sex go unnoticed. That leaves the locals with a lasting, negative opinion of British people.

But judging by most of the comments here, you're right :S

I think it is important to remember whenever you travel to another country, you are representing your own country, whether you like it or not. It is your free will to do whatever you please, but it is also the host country's citizen free will to believe what they see. It is important to have fun during your vacation, but basic manners can go a long way :)

Of course, I agree with you. Whenever I've been abroad I've tried to give an honest impression of myself and not run wild.

There is such thing as Tourist Inhibition Syndrome though (I just made that name up) where being in a different city, country or culture can feel to the tourist like being without responsibility. I know I've felt this before, a certain feeling of freedom when surrounded by people who you'll probably never meet again, that speak a different language and live a different life. Sometimes for people that feeling can be expressed in rude, loud, obnoxious behaviour that is untypical of them.

I don't like being tarnished with the same brush as the British tourists who act like twats abroad, but I also don't blame locals for their views; as I say, the lasting impression is often left by the loudest and meanest of travellers.

It's from being put on a pedestal by guys. Instant gratifications.

I'm a female American.

That being said, if you decide I am too ignorant to have a reasonable opinion, you may take your leave now. However, if you decide my response may be, at the least, worth considering, please, continue reading.

I'm here to clarify, less so to criticize. It's understood that some of you come from a different country and that is completely fine. Without a doubt, I too have many stereotypes about other nationalities that are in need of rectifying, so if you would care to enlighten me sometime, that would be appreciated.

There are two points that I would like to address - bear in mind that you are not actually completely off mark. Alpha, that American girls are 'ignorant' and 'dumb'; and beta, that American girls are 'easy' and 'materialistic', and gamma, that American girls are self-centerd.

First point - This isn't anywhere near true. Again, yes, there are ignorant and dumb American girls, but there are also ones that are smart. You might want to keep in mind that not all the girls in America are the same. God forbid that you decide to generalize so in this aspect. Also - I can't believe I'm actually admitting this online, here of all places - I have had issues with guys before, and them ranting about all the things that deem a girl 'undatable' to them. You probably know some of the universal ones (i.e. your girl cannot be taller than you) but what you probably don't know is that boys hate it when their girlfriend is smarter or better at some things than they are. I don't know, maybe this is not a problem for you. Before you write me off, realize that I have seen these things before. Also, I need to point out that this causes a little bit of an issue here in good ol' America. Girls, knowing this quote-unquote preference, are encouraged to be more clueless and more stupid than ever, if only to get a guy. I myself refuse to conform to this standard, and I know some women that do as well. However, that may be where prejudices come from, so in this case you are partially correct.

Second point - You mentioned that you have experiences to back up this point, but truth be told, a generalization really cannot be made even if you have done (God forbid!) ten American women. I'm sure that some tourists may go a little crazy when they are on vacation in Europe, what with the rumors and all about what to expect. They probably haven't realized you're laughing at them yet, hah. In that case, that's their fault. But I would like you to consider again that I am a female American myself, and that is just not something I would choose to do on vacation. Sorry, I don't care about the whole nationality business, so if you dare touch me, I'll hurt you with a tenacity you've never known before. I'm not one for the one-night-stand, anyway. It's just not my thing. About being materialistic, it's the same as for everything else I've said before. Some are, some are not. There's no real generalization that can be made for that.

Third point - I won't be too presumptuous about this one, as it's not clear where such this came about. But I don't think that all Americans are automatically self-centered people. If you've watched a lot of American movies or soap operas (which I shun anyway for their idiocy) then that could potentially be the cause. Hm, interesting.

Alright, that pretty much concludes my case. If I have offended anyone, I apologize profusely as it was not, by any means, done intentionally. Now I'm wondering - did any of this make sense to you? Even if it didn't, thanks for reading this anyway.

If I still seem stupid to you, sorry is all I've got for now. After all (Note my inaudible voice silently dripping with sarcasm), I'm an American female, eh?

I pretty much treat them like whores.

Uh-oh. I'm what you described. I'm an american girl who is not feminine at all and is ver much a tom-boy. Oh well, kiss my ass! :D

You have to realize that not all Americans can afford to travel. That's a small sample of people you are judging an entire nation on.

-
Everyone seems to be agreeing though ;)
Comment Hidden (show)
Its really a simple fix, you just ignore all that nonsense that you are referring to, if the girl continues acting like that then you leave and never look back. Sometimes ignoring it works and the female will come back down to reality, if it doesnt then get the hell outta there and dont look back.

And never, ever, under any circumstances, get married.

Lol I heard American marriages are the worst for men as they take everything you have and will have. The system seemed to be skewed toward favoring American woman...I've heard some scary divorce stories!!

3. Most Americans are very...dumb. I think i'm part of most.

How do you deal with American women? YOU TREAT THEM LIKE SHIT!!!!

The only thing women in America respect is assholes. Why? Because they are fucking stupid and think Asshole=Assertive/Confidence/Safety.

PS I'm an American.

I have never understood that concept of being a asshole gets you popular. It's so bizarre to me.

I don't really get it either. I mean who would want to date someone who disrespects them and treats them like dirt? But unfortunately it works.

I hear women like assholes because they want to be 'taken' sexually. But I don't know to me they are just plain dumb because there are plenty of nice guys out there yet they never bother to go out with them.
