They do exist and I used to know one. You'll be surprised what you can get some people to believe. Look at the Bible, for instance.

Of course the earth is flat. Otherwise we'd all slide off.

Some people still believe it. They believe the government is messing with our minds when they show the earth from a satellite view.

the earth is not really spherical and it's not flat either, this is true people learn it and pass it on.

physics and math and chemistry make way to much sense for some stupid monkeys (people) to have made them up. with math and science making a round earth so much more understandable than a flat one, you're either 5 years old or an idiot if you think the earth is flat.

if people were so much smarter than you to have made up science and math then don't for a second think that you would be smart enough to see past their tricks. they would have you believe whatever they felt like having you believe.

Again I agree with Dappled... oooh the Bible is so right, that's why they all inbred with their cousin's, brother, sister's, and sometimes even parents... I tell you that's what's wrong with people! And the earth isn't really spherical or flat it's a oblate spheroid.

dappled, there is a mass of truth in the Bible - much of it traditional lore. You don't have to believe there is an old man sitting on a cloud who will pat you on the head when you die if you've been to church enough times. It's a good book - I must read it all one day.

If there was no other way to know it was not flat why would we think it was round

The earth is obviously a cylinder shape(we're on the inside of the cylinder)!

Seems to be some confusion. People didn't think the earth was flat because it was in the bible. People thought the earth was flat because there was no evidence to the contrary and no reason for it to be a more complex shape, in their minds.

Still obviously wrong but that's beside my point :P

As the sun (or whatever) goes down the horizon, it disappears from the bottom-up. If the earth were flat, it would just get smaller and smaller until you couldn't see it anymore.
