And in 2000

I went through this on December 31st, 1999. Instead of going out and partying with my friends, I was in church. (New Year's Day is a Holy Day of Obligation - So I was there for mass, but just as an extra measure...I thought I might go.)

The Priest giving the mass at my church before year 2000 said something from scripture about all of that hooplah:

"It is not ours to know when the hour of the Lord is at hand, that we should prepare every day for it."

If the world ends, it ends...There isn't much I, as one little person out of 7 billion can do to stop it, so I choose not to get caught up in it.

Thing is this will be something we will go through a few more times as well. The Mayan calendar is finished on December 21, 2012 and we restart there too. And I imagine there will be those who think 2033 will be a day as well.

I think we should not worry about it and go on living our lives and being who we are.

The world will end when Chuck Norris has had enough of us!

It always amazes me how people who have never even heard of a particular religion, culture or belief...and don't follow any of the customs...suddenly believe in it when it comes to anything regarding the end of the world.

hell no and any1 who believe in it is fucking retarded

I think your comment is unkind in calling a person's beliefs retarded. However, I agree with you somewhat in that it doesn't seem rational to believe that one can place a date on the "end of time;" because the biblical literature itself says, that no one, not even the angels in the heavenly realms, can predict (with any certainty) when such an end will occur.

The natural and the geopolitical world that we live in is not a tame place. Look at Japan. They experienced a world changing event. The former Soviet Union also suffered an end of the world when their government collapsed in the late eighties. And our country is still suffering from the economic collapse of 2008.

Its saturday. I can safely say the world hasn't ended.

Looking back on it it's pretty obvious what happened. Apparently the entire population of Earth is such a bunch of godless heathens that nobody was raptured to Heaven. Except Randy Savage, for some reason.

If it has ended then im now in hell.
Comment Hidden (show)
fuck no its not going to end like ever the world well evolve once again after many years but it wont end people just make that up because they are bored
Comment Hidden (show)
If the world still exists on Sunday and all this turns out to be the babblings of a cretin, will you agree to assist me in spreading the word that the destruction of the world isn't predictable just as it wasn't in 1994 when he predicted it would end and, rather than be shamefaced, merely waited a generation before spreading fresh lunacy?

"Didn't even know till now!"

Kinda. My BF mentioned it last night but I forgot about it.

Still I think it'll be just like all the other "OMG THE WORLD IS ENDING" warnings... where we all laugh at them the day after. ;-)

I'm only slightly interested in hearing what ol' Harold Camping's excuse will be this time when nothing happens.

Won't that cult have egg on their face on Sunday! I wonder what their explanation will be that nothing happened. More importantly, I really wish that I could bet all of these cult members all of their worldly possessions that it doesn't happen. :oP

I have no freaking idea.
It is May 21 for me right now, but apparently now it's going to end at 6:00 pm. To be honest, I don't want to know when Judgement Day will come.

Well it is currently 21:05 current time when I am posting this. So far I have not felt the earthquakes nor have I seen the four horsemen who are written to ride out and herald the end.

All kidding aside, what this means is that no one really knows and that the lessons we are taught about being civilized to one another should apply every day as if that day is the last one.

just woke up on the sunday afternoon. oh yeah saturday ended though

The problem with mythological language and "end of the world" literature is that an "ending" usually refers to civilization. Historically speaking, civilizations have falling many times. Also, a drastic change in a civilization can be an "end of the world" event. It is possible for our world to have ended yesterday and we would not know about it till later date when historians would back to locate the moment when a change occurred.

America today is not the same place it was when I was a child twenty-thirty years ago. The world I lived in then ended not with a bang, but a whimper.

Please note, and this is important, that the Greek word apokálypsis or apocalypse does not mean end of the world. The word is simply defined as "lifting of the veil" or "the disclosure of information or something that is hidden from the majority of the population."

Applied to our own lives, an apocalyptic event is the "revealing" of a "truth" about yourself that you never knew existed.

Hmmaybe
Wait what! The world ended 10 days ago!

No I do not believe this horses puckett. THE ONLY PERSON WHO KNOWS WHEN THE WORLD WILL END IS THE MAKER OF THE UNIVERSE CHRIST HIMSELF.

I thought Christ was his 'adoptive' parents name?

Hello:

I am not exactlly sure of what you mean by your answer to my post, but Jesus Christ was not adopted, He was born PERFECT by the Virgin Mary who was given the right to give Him life through God His Father. Jesus Christ lived life as we did but He was always Perfect because He was God's Son. Christ also bore our sins when He Obediently through God died that horrible brutal death on the Cross. Then three days later was ressurected and God took Him HOME; {To Heaven}; So no Mame, THAT WAS NOT HIS ADOPTIVE NAME THAT WAS HIS BIRTH NAME.

No one said Joseph wasn't Joseph Christ. Or was it Mary's last name? besides in some stories Jesus totally yelled up some guys for gambling in a church and had frequent temper tantrums as a child. I say adoptive because Joseph didn't get to bang up his wife before she was pregnant. Joseph could have left Mary to fend for herself since apparently he didn't get an angel to tell him what was going on. Also apparently god didn't ask mary 'hey wanna have my kid?' nope he suposedly just sent an angel to tell her. So yes adoptive as it's the closest I know how to describe the relationship.
Adopt:
choose and decide to do something
start using a new name
raise anothers child

also it's Ma'am not Mame
