Are You Normal?

Ask your question today!

Do you dislike cats and/or dogs?
Favorited (undo) 39 Comments

This isn't the usual post about whether you like cats or dogs or both, it's about dislike. I'm interested in seeing what proportion of people actively 'dislike' cats and dogs and their reasons for doing so.

If you're a cat or dog lover, I'll give you options in the poll (because I love both and know that I'd want to comment), but this really isn't aimed at us.

I love cats, I tolerate dogs but they are my least favorite animal I'm still nice to them if they are friendly though, but I wouldn't really want one for a pet

Aww, what is it about dogs that you find a turn-off?

I know people will say this is not all dogs, but they eat everything, they bark too loud, they bite for fun, they have to be taught what not to do (Yeah cats do too but not as much), they just annoy me, but not always I guess... I volunteer at a no kill animal shelter so I sometimes have to go with the dogs and I like to hug& pet them but I prefer to be with the cats. I wonder why so may people hate cats too, I guess they have bad experiences with some, same why I dislike dogs, but also I think it has to do with personality type - some understand dogs better, for others it's cats

Good Job at knowing what type of Animal best fits your life style and personality. you might be surprised to know that alot of people just get whatever looks cute, and then when they discover that they don't like the pet, they just end up putting on a chain out back to bark it's life away. some people just think that cats are like giant rodents, and it's ok to dispose of them. I worked with the S.P.C.A AND some of the cruelty was enough to make you question the human race. take care.

Like those girls who carry chihuahua in their purses just to show off.

Dogs are needy, cats are independent. A lot people say dogs are smarter. Yes they are, but only in Owner-Dog relationships, while cats are smarter in general survival alone.

"Needy" and "independent" are human terms. Also, a cat is usually a solitary hunter whereas a dog is a pack animal. There's a difference between "needy" and being outside of your comfort zone for the way you have evolved.

I'd say dogs are more intelligent hunters (because a pack mentality requires thoughts above just the selfish instinct) whereas cats are more instinctive hunters (which they can afford to be because they are more agile and have a more complete set of hunting skills than dogs). For higher functions that can be learned, cats don't rate that well intelligence-wise.

I agree. Still I like instinctive hunters that are hunting alone (cats) rather than I like social mentally evolved hunters (dogs).

Yeah, they're pretty amazing to watch, whether they are tigers or tabbies. I'd much rather watch cats hunt than dogs.

Although, of course, there's more to an animal than hunting. Especially domesticated animals.

i love all animals (even bugs) and i consider all of them to be non human persons. why does a little spider run crazy for its life when you finger probe its sorounding area when he was lazily exploring just seconds before? because every living being on this planet doesnt know shit about why they are here but they wll desperately fight for their life if its needed. everything alive deservers to live. so i like cats, dogs, and everything else.

Wow, Thank You for your post! It is so nice to hear another human being that feels exactly the way i do about all living creatures, how refreshing! I pick spiders up and put them outside when i am cleaning. You hit the nail on the head with me. thanks.

Animals are more important than some people (trolls).

LOVE doggies

I couldn't hate animals. Even if they bite me.

I don't hate them either, but if they bite me (like my moms dog does) i say "you son of a bitch!" and chase them.

I have a dog and a cat. My dog is very needy, and it get s very irritating. My cat us just independant like all cats, which is what I like in animals.

None of them are the problem so far, now it's my foal (chold horse) that is becoming a pain.

I've always been a cat person more so than a dog person. I do have a dog and I love him, but I'm not so fond of other dogs. He's allot more dependent then my cat, but he's also very protective. I'd hate to think what my cat would do if I ever got in a serious situation:/

I love them both.

Lol, nobody is listening to what the OP asked for.

I hate both. There, does that help?

I kind of guessed it would pan out this way. Worth a try, though.

Do you HATE yourself? Because if you HATE any other living being out there, then i think that you should HATE yourself too, this is really sad, because you have the ability to love, and you chose to hate.

It was a fucking joke. I grew up with a dog. Cats are great too. You're the one getting furious, so who's spreading the negative energy?

Here's some ice to put on that butthurt.

I am not getting furious, just stating the way i feel about persons who hate Animals. I know they are out there, and for a sec. there, thought you were one too. you were joking? kinda a strange way to joke, but oh, well, to each there own. butthurt, HA, ha, thanks for the ice, but i won't be needing it. lol

I think he was illustrating a point about the way I worded this poll. I was very specific about it and I didn't expect people to understand (and they didn't) but he did.

For the record, I'm both a dog and cat lover and pretty much any animal you could name.

I love both. I don't have any cats at the moment but I've got three dogs, a Jack Russell, a Shih-tzu and a Japanese Akita.

You're lucky to have them!

My family have always had Jack Russells, friends of the family have Akitas, and my own friend has a Shih-Tzu. I think they're all fantastic! Especially the Akitas. They're like cuddly lions!
Comment Hidden (show)
As much as I love cats and dogs, they're too much of a responsibility for me to want to have one in the house. I love all my friend's animals though :)
Comment Hidden (show)
I love both although I tend to like big dogs more (St Bernards, Great Danes, etc)

ME TOO, I LOVE BIG DOGS!
Comment Hidden (show)
Both good and bad things since by a cat you can mean the nice ones or the ones that try rip your arm off and by dogs well the same...
Comment Hidden (show)
I love both, but prefer dogs.
Comment Hidden (show)
Love dogs!

Cats are ok.
Comment Hidden (show)
Cats are bitches (Haha, get it? Because dogs are called bitches :D) But cats are mean and bitchy so I don't like them. Dogs however are stupid and fun, so who wouldn't love them?! :D
Comment Hidden (show)
I do no hate animals, but I don't really love cats. They are cute and all, but they get boring after 5 minutes.
Comment Hidden (show)
I hate cats. The neighborhood cats sometimes scare me when they start fighting outside in the dark. I also hate my neighbors cat because sometimes Im sleeping and a cat is outside my window crying almost as if it were a child. Its scary.

It's not crying. It's calling a mate.
