American TV is weird. Either a show runs so long it turns into an embarrassment or it gets axed after one season despite being amazing. I'll never understand how My So-Called Life didn't get recommissioned. It was just brilliant.
Its literally one of the best shows that was ever put on television, though I do agree the later episodes didnt quite have the strength of the earlier shows, they were still funny and absolutely worth watching.
Anyone who says they hated the show hated it because it hit to close to home in portraying what their own personal marriage/family life was like. Or just lived the most sheltered life imaginable.
Al making fun of the fat women that come into the shoe store or else otherwise find their way onto the show is still to this day some of the funniest television you can find. Anyone who doesnt find humor in that is self conscious and fat themselves.
The best episode is the one where they put him on trial in the shoe store for all the years of insults he had given them.
it was a great show but ended to soon. most of the 10th Season peggy was not in it and katey segal was my favourite person in it.
i have all seasons of roseanne i thought it was great but did not like the last episode when you found out dan had died with the heart attack in the previous season it did not make sense, but love roseanne though.
I used to watch this show before i was old enough to understand what it meant to climax (Peggy was HOT). Then again, married with children was the satirical version of its competition like full house, family matters and blossom. And i know you all know those shows too!
I once saw a special about it and there was this janitor or doorman or something like that commenting "I used to love that show, it was a great comfort to be able to lie down at the end of the week and be calm that, no matter how bad my week went, Al's went a little worse". That pretty much sums up what that formulated sitcom relied on in order to catch the viewer, because if you think about it, the jokes are hardly any good. Not much artistic value there. There have been valuable comedies.
I agree with the Roseanne comment as well, I love that show but after the lottery win it just sucked.
