I mean think about this...my cat goes in a litter box and digs through litter that has her pee and poop in there,cats are too fat and lazy to clean themselves!
Why would you want to risk getting any germs! Not only that, but you can give germs to your cat as well,as with all things in life , i prefer to wash my hands every time i touch , even poke my cat D:

seriously, you have a mutant or a problem.
My cats spend as much time sleeping during the day as they spend cleaning themselves...
Sometimes I have been lazy and neglected to wash my hands before eating (would never be lazy and not do this if I were cooking btw) and I have been fine.
I don't get sick very often so I trust that my immune system is strong enough to deal with it every once and while.
In fact, when I know a person owns a dog, I automatically downgrade them, in my mind, to a dirty person. True story.
