I'm weird with Star Trek. That myth with the even-numbered films being great? I think it applies to the series too. I actually didn't like original Star Trek (blasphemy, I know), most certainly didn't like DS9, and didn't give Enterprise much of a chance (if I'm being honest). Maybe I should give Enterprise another look.
Voyager almost seemed like a continuation of TNG to me. Strong, occasionally-flawed captain, social and well-liked number one, a non-organic member of crew (Data, the EMH; very similar storylines about developing human characteristics and wanting to experience love), a part-Klingon member of crew (Worf/Torres), a deliberately annoying character (Wesley/Neelix), and a crew member who joined via non-conventional means (Yar, Seven).
