But I agree, I though the 17 year time skip was a bit too far to skip since it cut three of my mains out (Mina, Soph, Cassandra) and the story mode was disappointing. I heard it was only 1/4 done at time of release.
That said, I love the combat even more than before, I feel the new characters are different enough from their predecessors but still familiar, critical edges are so much fun to use and combo into. So I think I give it 8 as well :)
And that is such an awesome dream, I wish you all the luck and best wishes, I would totally buy a game like that without a doubt. You can do it! :D
Maybe they will make some DLC packages. That would be nice if they contained the old characters, and a story mode for everyone. A art gallery would awesome too!
