Say 300,000,000 is the US population. Then 1% is 3,000,000. (honestly if you research the occupy movement, their target is actually like the top 0.2%, but 1% Is catchier, & we'll stick with it.)
It may sound like a lot, but think of the thousands of wall street executives; the stockholders of every corporation in our country; the incomes of pro athletes, actors & models; company Presidents, VPs, Chairmen, CEOs, CFOs, and COOs. They all add up to that 3 million, but even some of them aren't in that top 1% income bracket.
So do you honestly think that you earn more than 297,000,000 other Americans?
I was referring to 1% of the whole world, in which case I'm making A LOT more than 99% of the world. There was no mention of the US and this 99-1 thing is not going on only in the US.
I'm assuming myself that based on all of the Occupy Wall Street stuff the past year or so, that that is what the OP is referring to, bc that is what a bunch of politicals keep saying... "they want to take away OUR money!!!" and stuff like that. "We are the 99%" is a political slogan and the 1% in that case refers to the top-earning 1% of Americans. BUT I guess that's what happens when you assume... :-P

Sorry for the inconvenience.
