I'm sick of the "All of us are the same" speech

I am actually pretty irritated by how the IIN community has this whole hippy, illogical thing going on, the "Everyone is equal, all groups are the same and are not likely to do something more than the others" speech.

No matter what group of people, no matter what culture, everyone is saying "we're all the same, we are all capable of the same things", when we simply aren't. Some are smart, some are dumb, some are driven, and some are lazy. One would have to be the whole gender issue. It is fact that we think differently that eachother (genders), yet somehow we all are equal and are able to do the same things exactly the same? No. It's fact our minds are different, so obviously there will be some differences in our capability when it comes to mental parts of life.

I am find it completely illogical to say that everybody is able to do the same as eachother, it's just so hippyish.

We're not all the same, a lot of people are natrually better at things than others, and some groups of people are better than the other group.

What do you think?

I think you may be misunderstanding. We're not all the same, but we all deserve to be treated the same. There's definitely a difference.

Why do we deserve to be treated the same as others if others have done more for others than other people have done for others?
Should I get the respect of a well-trained doctor that has saved lives simply because we are of the same species?

Respect, no, but as a baseline you deserve to be treated like a human being. Whatever you do to earn more respect is your own concern.

I completely agree 100%. Just because we don't respect someone doesn't mean we should or have any right to disrespect someone. If someone is respected, you see them with more positive light than the average person you know, that doesn't mean that you see the average person you know in a negative light.

Yeah, it can be difficult to put it in precise words (for both of us), but we mean exactly the same thing.

I'm agreeing with you.

I don't think they mean nobody is dumb, lazy and so on.

I think they mean (and I know I do) that not one group is 100% lazy, dumb or whatever.

ItDuz? Is that you?

I could be wrong btw, but the "pretty irritated" tripped my ItDuz Alarm.

I don't think it is him for some reason. There aren't enough spelling mistakes.

It is ItDuz...

Wow:O Your spelling and grammar has improved! And I don't mean that in a condescending way btw. And you managed to go without saying *Sigh*:L

Amazing, right?
To be serious, I do have a lot of errors in my grammar but I do try to improve by myself, and I'm glad that it seems to be getting better.

It's definitely getting better, I'm impressed:D!

The "the genders aren't equal" bit tripped mine.

I know that my problem isn't admitting that people aren't equal. Because we are all different, no two people are exactly the same. That's why I dislike grouping people together and saying that because you belong to certain group you act a certain way. The differences between men as a group and women as a group aren't nearly as vast as the differences between any two individuals.

Therefore, I don't like to say that one group is better than another, especially if it contains a huge amount of people. Firstly, it's virtually impossible to measure something as big as determining which gender is better, or who has contributed more to society.

Basically using labels as an indication for who is the best is wrong. Yes, males may be suited to a certain profession more than females. But as a female, does that mean I don't get a right to enter that profession and get the same treatment? It shouldn't, especially since I may be better for the job than any guy out there.

Seems like this is probably a misunderstanding caused by language. I've been known to say shit like that but what I mean by saying such is we share far more than we differ from one another. Genetically speaking there's only a decimal of percentage of differentiating DNA separating us from every other human being on this planet.

Or looking at quantum mechanics and the theory of the universe as a fractal, in a way we are all small parts of a greater universal body, a part of the whole, and in that way we are very much the same.

What I take from all this is that your fellow man are your brethren, that we are all different, all have our own abilities and weaknesses, but when you look at the big picture we all came from a single cell in a sea of primordial ooze. Definitely makes me feel more connected to others. :P

We're not all equal in ability.
There are some men that I am smarter than and that are smarter than me.
There are some men that I could knock the fuck out in one hit and some men that would laugh at that hit and have me down in an instant.
I am not the best writer, but I am better than some and worse than others.
I suck at Math and statistically 70% of the population my age is better at it then me. True story.
However, my reading comprehension and communication skills are in the 99th percentile.

But just because *you* judge my gender and my own personal character as lacking the ability to contribute to society more than you because I have a vagina and you have a penis and somehow having a penis is the reason that men have done more for society thus reducing them to the sum of their parts, doesn't mean that your judgement is correct as you, sir, are not an omnipotent being capable of making such judgement calls, and DOESN'T mean that I don't deserve the same respect that would be given to anyone that is favorable to you.

No, we're not all equal, we're all weak in some way, even men. But that doesn't mean that we don't all deserve the same respect as one would give someone that they deem "deserving". If everyone just respected each other equally rather than following the doctrine that "I will only respect those worthy", then I can almost guarantee you that the world would be a far better place than it is today.

You're right, we are not all the same. We all have our own unique and individual qualities. How boring would this world be if we were all the same? But why this constant need to discover who or what is better?

The sooner we do that, the sooner we can equip the best to do the jobs that require the best, etc.

I am both dumb and smart as is the man/woman with the highest IQ on earth or anywhere else noone is only smart...

I agree so im the same :-,

Well, call me a hippie, but I disagree with you. Yes; we all come from different backgrounds. We are born with different personalities, and some of us are more driven and wiser than others, as each individual has a different mind set, but regardless, we are still all one people. Everybody hurts, everybody needs, everybody has strengths, everybody has weaknesses. Some maybe be lazier and weaker, but we all have the power to do what we want to do if we set our mind to it. Race and gender doesn't have anything to do with personality. I know so many guys (not all of them are gay) that talk, act, and I assure you, think, just like women do, as I know so many women, who are more masculine than a lot of guys. With everything being said, we are all human. We all have equal rights. To say one is more important or better than the other would be completely ignorant as we all have a place in this world, whether you deem it as important to you or not. We ARE all equal and we ARE all one people. We are all indivual by person, I cannot deny with that, for that is the beauty of our species, but is does not change the fact that we are all equal.
Comment Hidden (show)
I agree with dappled that we should all be treated as living things, I treat all living this with the same respect, but I agree with you that everyone is not equal, race and gender have their difference in ability, generally speaking. Of course there are smart and successful people in all races and genders, but there are statistical facts showing our differenceson average, that the hippies as you say, don't seem to be as open to accept or believe.
Comment Hidden (show)
Yup so true. IIN is full of a bunch of damn communist hippies who think we are all robots who all think exactly the same.
Comment Hidden (show)
So your saying everyone is different but exactly the same. Like this group is different from that group but within that group they're.the same or similar? Right?
