If I was black, I wouldn't admit it here. There was one person on the site who eventually put up a picture of herself. She was nice, friendly, intelligent and a worthwhile IIN member.
After the picture going up, a person on this site (who I'm not going to shame; if he's reading this, he knows who he is) taunted her using incredibly vulgar language and I was genuinely so shocked that I was temporarily speechless. She left the site soon after (or came back with a different username and decided not to post a picture of herself on her profile).
I'm disgusted by the person who chased her away and I make a point not to engage him in conversation. This isn't a criticism of the site's users, by the way. I think, as a group, we're more accepting and open than most. It's more a comment that one bad egg can ruin someone's enjoyment of the site just because of her skin colour.
I totally agree with this comment, I feel people should never do or not do something because of one persons opinion unless its an inappropriate act. Be proud of who or what or color or sex you are and post a pic all you want thats what I think. People like that are not worth agonizing over.
makes sense.... but don't you think it would make even more sense if you gave people the option to pick black or white rather than black woman black male...?
Because the poll says How many black people are on this site. Not white people. How could this possibly have offended you. It's annoying when people get mad when asking a question about race. Even when the person asking it is black themselves. I guess it's a crime to know how many people of my own race use this site huh?
