Is it normal that I eat raw hot dogs?

I usually eat hot dogs raw. One time when I was a kid I tried to cook one with a magnifying glass, but I gave up and ate it with only a little bit cooked. The cooked part was better than the raw part, but I don't like to cook them because it takes too long.

I eat raw hot dogs a lot, but not all the time, but I think it is kinda weird that you have to eat them cooked so I voted yes.

Yes this is correct in the USA to not have to cook the Weiner but in the UK for example it may be different. I read they had a big problem with mad cow disease over and cooking that to 600 deg to kill contamination your food is fucked.

No, it's not normal. More importantly, it's not safe. The FDA states that such precooked foods "can become contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes after they have been processed and packaged at the plant. If it's not possible to reheat hot dogs, don't eat them."

It's not all that unsafe either. Yes the FDA recommends that, but they also recommend it for cold cuts and lunch meats. They are mentioned in the same sentence by the FDA on the issue. How many people do you know that heat all of their cold cuts and lunch meat everytime before they eat a sandwich? Have you heard of any epidemics of illness and death from lunch meat?

Like dytrog said below, it is the same as saying you eat raw bologna.

Hot dogs are fully cooked before packaging, so there's no harm in doing so. The fact that you enjoy shoving cold, semi flaccid phalluses into your mouth is another story, though.

A hot dog is just a small version of Jumbo bologna. Same stuff. In fact, my father used to make fried bologna sandwiches which is basically a flat hot dog. Many mothers will freeze a hot dog and give it to their teething babies to chew on. The cold soothes their gums and if they bite off a piece and happen swallow it, no problems. So eating uncooked hot dogs is really more normal than you might think.

Hot dogs are all above just what I dislike. Hmm, it probably isn't normal.. Well, I answered "Yes".. But, the food may be contaminated. I'm guessing you'd have to heat the food to get rid some of that, now will you?
