But it's not that hard to get a permit. Less paper work than your driver's license. And I think it's free. If a kid really needed a job they just need a work permit and a meeting at the goodwill job connection.
I like it the way it is. I don't think the standard age should be 14. I'm kind of against child labor.
Yeah I got mine from my school, it was a one-page form (before the internet and all that!!), took about a minute. I knew a couple kids who got hardship driver's licenses as well, which wasn't as easy but they did it and it's available for those who need it. They were 14 and the driving age was 16.
Can't make it too easy, people would be cheating that, so I agree with strict rules on driving privileges.
