Hmm, weed me out then. Sometimes they get me.

My point was that pedobear is just as harmless. No one hears a dead baby joke as an invitation to kill the nearest baby, and no one sees pedobear as an invitation to molest anybody.

Because i will always be WITH my child anyway, at least in a age where it ill have such a plushie with it in public? As said, there's lots of sick things going on, i simply fail to consider it as being on the same level as those.
Again: I am very glad i don't live where you do. I'm in central europe, and "concerned citizens" in that respect don't exist here. If someone recognizes pedobear, he will 90% understand and laugh, or 10% wonder and STFU. For those that don't recognize him, nothing to worry about.
What i do know, however, is that it takes some serious stuff happening to get child services to even come over, let alone take action.

As said, i believe you are seriously overreacting to this, in a way of "i don't know what exactly pedobear is, but there's pedo in its name so it MUST be something absolutely awful".

Let me tell you that my partner and her little sister had dark experiences with their stepdad. With a real pedosexual(not using "pedophile" on purpose here, i've known pedophiles and they have nothing in common with the beasts that rape children).
She has no interest in dating or having sex with men, ever, but she can still laugh about pedobear. Not without a bitter note, but natural and truthful. If she doesn't have to make him into a symbol for something that he's not, i wonder why some people are so insistent into making him into something negative.

I mean, jeez, in several third-world countries kids have to help doing heavy and unhealthy work, and sleep at night in the same room their parents have sex in. On the other hand, a New York Mum is hated on by a nation because she let her 8-year-old ride the subway alone. OMG how irresponsible! Makes you think it's a black&white world out there.
Here kids go alone with the subway all the time, even a lot younger. Guess what? No one is snatching them away and abducting them. They are also often asked to help in the household, or try summer jobs. Guess what? The kids see that as normal, and it doesn't go overboard.

I want to have children, not pets. And what constitutes a "cute joke" here will most likely not be the same as a "cute joke" in, say, Texas, USA or Myanmar, South East Asia. While in Texas it may be normal to have guns at home, be a NRA-member or, some places, even acceptable to be part of the clans, that same stuff will have you seen as a dangerous individual here(why do you have guns? That will get you investigated over and over), while being in a clan-like organization will get you sent straight to prison for quite some time(a lot longer if you have guns as you are deemed more dangerous).
Sexual stuff: No big worrys. Weapons: Very concerned. Violence or extremist politics: Out of the question.
Remembering "nipplegate" and liberal gun laws, thats already a lot different just over in US. So please try to not apply your own personal and locally based standards on a global scale(US really likes doing that, now that i think about it).
