First, I did make it clear "that doesn't warrant any disrespect whatsoever."
However, I would disagree that women today haven't experienced oppression. There still remains a mindset that women are second class among some subcultures...for that matter many nation-wide societies. Rescearch Middle Eastern culture, rednecks of the U.S., or even Western corporate mindset. I could give a multitude of examples beyond these, but I listed the first three that came to mind..

Women today might feel oppressed, but that doesn't mean they are. Just like people always seem to say that women are told they have to be thin and beautiful to do anything, when nobody is telling them to do so, that it is them that are choosing to try be those things because "they" feel they have to be those things to be seem as beautiful when nobody is telling them to do so. Yes, males might preffer those things, but they aren't telling them to be those things, and because women want to be seen as beautiful to the male gender (same in vice versa), they choose to try be thin and beautyful. Then they say it's the media telling them to do so, but they do the exact same to men, that men have to be handsome and well built.

The mindsets you listed are the ones from people that are barely taken seriously, not even by the actual sexist males. Yet, you get women that think their gender is better by females that are in a good society, well lived people.

Not to mention, in a lot of areas where women are opressed, men are also opressed.
Not sure where it was, I think Iran? Not sure. But the area in which women aren't allowed to show any of their skin also opresses men. Women aren't allowed to show their skin due to it being the mot important part of a woman; beauty (in their minds). And males aren't allowed to walk around with expensive clothing or materials that show them to be powerful, which is something important to men, power. A lot of people don't take notice to that, they only focus on the female opression part. Yes, women are opressed more there, but males are also opressed.

In this country in terms of legality things are pretty much equal. Some people and corporations are sexist, but those attitudes aren't going to go away for a while. It's only been a few decades since the second wave feminist movement after all.

In terms of social issues, neither men nor women get a fair deal. For every girl who feels pressured to be thin or get plastic surgery or be quieter or work in a more feminine profession or whatever, there is a man who is told it's gay to cry, that his muscles and his dick need to be bigger, that he needs to be aggressive and competitive and blah blah blah. I took a huge interest in gender issues when I took a Women's Study class in college and I find myself talking a lot about the problems men face due to gender stereotyping and socialization, simply because a lot of people really never think about that shit, which surprised the hell out of me. o.o

We're all just people. Your value and mine is equal to that of any other person. We all came from a single cell in a sea of primordial ooze consisting of elements that were made by nuclear fusion in stars. Let's just all be excellent to each other because that's a pretty cool fucking thing. :D
