This is insane. Ludicrous. Inexplicable and nonsensical.

…I wish I were making up the checkered floor thing, but there are actually people who claim that if a building has a black and white checkered floor, that means it's connected to the Freemasons, and therefore the Illuminati. I particularly enjoy this because my entire house has black and white checkered floors.
Bakers therefore sell 2X4 of the buns.
Hot dogs are made differently and do not have the limitations of the bakers oven space.
I hope that's finally answered for you.
By the way if you can now work out how a bakers dozen fits in the oven you'll get a medal.
Aren't hot dogs the sausage and bun combined?
Hot dogs aren't the sausages... A sausage is a sausage. It's the magical addition of the bread that completes the cuisine. Am I right or am I right?
Sausage + Bun = Hot Dog.
Hot Dog + Bun = A Hot Dog with 2 buns. Excessive bread involved if you ask me.
Over here a Hot Dog is the bun + sausage (typically a frankfurter).
Maybe where you are a Hot Dog is the bun + sausage, but also just the sausage?
Cultural difference perhaps :/
Here in the UK a hot dog = a sausage in a bun, the complete package. We don't call the sausages themselves hot dogs :)
