Greedy motherfuckers, they are!! They think they are some kind of boutique!! They are supposed to help people, both by providing the donated items at an affordable price and by providing services from the money they make.
I don't know how well they do with managing their money, but I sure do know that you can hardly get any bargains there anymore!!
Anything that's 20 or more years old gets put in this vintage class, where they jack up the price of it. Fuck that!! They got it free!! They owe their customers low affordable prices. Jeans should be jeans, a coat is a coat....period!!
I hate that fucking place now and they can go to hell. On top of it all, they get these poor dupes to ring bells outside of every damn store that exists to get MORE donations!! Greedy scum-suckers!!
Sheesh, I went in there for a leisure suit, and it turns into THIS. They should be ashamed!! Now I have nothing to wear to mom's funeral.

I'm sorry you had to put up with this intolerable behaviour. Someone needs to teach these guys a lesson, before they raise even more money and, god forbid...help the homeless:O! The homeless are so inconsiderate, it's like they go without shelter just to be an inconveniece to your wardrobe!
Oh, the thought alone is enough to anger me.
They're saying that the poor can't be fashionable, too.
No item in that store should be unattainable by a person of little means. That is half the purpose of the store!!
Maybe instead of comparing the value of "vintage clothes" to the other cheap clothes in the store, you should try comparing them to other antique items that gain value with age instead of depreciating. Think about the value of haute couture as art, for example. Vintage clothes are certainly not haute couture but at least they are still an afforable and powerful fashion statement, they have been for decades.
They aren't really helping anybody out that way!
Electricity, gas, advertisements, employees... none of that comes free.
This is an odd question, because you have to ask yourself, how much money is it okay for the salvation army to make?
Because remember, once you start doing that... someone else can try dictating how much profit YOU'RE allowed to have.
Why do people act like it's evil to earn money and have a profit? Punishing people and companies for being successful ... it's as logical as cutting off your feet before going on a marathon.
it's evil to make a profit and to succeed doncha know?
Part of that whole "you didn't build that" bs as if somehow being successful means you need to support everyone else who doesn't produce
A lot of the workers in the stores are volunteers, doing community service, or are in the SA rehab program. In other words, they have a lot of free labor. Since they're a church, they don't even pay any taxes!!
By posing as a store that provides things at "bargain prices", they get donations, both monetary and in the form of donated clothing and goods. Those people donating that money and those goods are at least in part and sometimes in whole, doing so to HELP PEOPLE. They could've taken their clothes to a consignment shop, or had a garage sale, or even just thrown them in the garbage, but they chose to cart them down to the SA. I'd venture a guess that a good portion of the people who donate don't shop there, so they are probably completely unaware of the pricing. If they WERE aware, don't you think it might make a difference to them? I think so. That's the point. The SA is lying, and the donations keep rolling in by unsuspecting fools.
This is a newer thing the SA is doing. I am a long time shopper in these stores and this is something they have started doing in the past few years and has gotten worse and worse. They've made it so far, what sparked this greed?
You complain about the prices but you haven't actually said what they were yet.
You've only said that you feel their prices are evil.
So how much did they expect you to pay for this suit?
They sell suit jackets for around $5-$10 depending, and you can pick up a shirt for $2-$5, slacks for around $4, yet they want $70 for this ensemble. Wrong.
They also sell a lot of what I call "baby death traps". These are uninteresting, unremarkable baby toys and seats from the 70's and 80's, that should not be used by any baby and have no decor value either but this store thinks they are vintage and valuable and try to get so much money for this stuff. This is one time when I am thankful for their pricing as these items are still sitting in the store after a very long time. A baby would be killed using this crap! Thank God people are either too broke or too smart to buy this stuff.

So now we come to the real issue. You didn't like the prices.
And ... a leisure suit for a funeral? Really?
