What if it's being eaten by the fullest, fattest, richest man on earth, right in front of a hungry street orphan named Benji? What then? Yeah, I thought so.
You bought it to be eaten, and you ate it. Seems like its not a waste to me, it still went into your body as food, and as a source of vitamins and minerals!
Depends. If I know I can make something with it like a meal or a drink, I'll make it before it expires. But if it has no use then I end up throwing it away. I dislike doing that, though.
I'll eat things that have expired just so as not to waste them. Throwing food out really makes me feel bad.
Though, I could give you a very good approximation of the life of every single item of food in my place. It's just something I really try to keep on top of.
Expiration dates are often exaggerated - partly to be on the safe side, partly so that you'll throw it out quicker and buy more food. Hooray for capitalism! But I'm pretty sure there are tips online for how to tell when food is actually no longer edible.
They are indeed. I tend to go by the "red and green rule". If the red mould that's growing on it is eating the green mould, I should leave those guys to it.
My grandmother came for a visit and she doesnt believe in wasting food so now everyday I have to make sure I dont waste anything. I realize now how much I take food for granted. No its olny a waste when you throw it away because with it went your money and it was better off in your tummy.
We waste a lot of food in our house. :s I hate the tought of eating food more than two days old and our fridge likes to freeze produce no matter what the temp is at.
Its not a waste as long as someone eats it. I don't suggest eating food if it has expired... If the food has mold, skin is wrinkled, points caved in, is sprouted, smells off, has excess water or contains eggs; it shouldn't be eaten. You'd be better off throwing it out.
What if I dumped a pound of uncooked ground beef in your lap would you eat it?
What if I cut a pigs torso open and dropped it off on your porch would you cook it and eat it or waste it?
Though, I could give you a very good approximation of the life of every single item of food in my place. It's just something I really try to keep on top of.
