I have a TAFE certificate that allows me to work as an "unqualified childcare worker". A tad insulting. But I trickled down to that having dropped out of uni (early childhood education...same thing) so meh.

Instead of shitty overly stressful, under valued centre work, I decided to expand my part time job I'd had while studying (mothers helper/babysitting) into a full time thing (nannying) so I set up a "business" for myself (technically that's what it is but to me that seems a bit of a joke) and haven't looked back.

Over the course of almost 10years, extra work I've done for the parents of my kids has included banking, data entry for tax, composing business letters ("cos you talk real good"), IT support, computer setup, general typing, pool cleaning, removalist work, pet care. I'm not great at saying no. Got to go overseas three times with that family, though.

Nowadays, it's just the expected childcare: day to day stuff, cleaning, cooking, laundry, doctors appointments and classes.

Keeps things interesting.
