It's a preference here too, the only time I only eat ketchup is when I visit a fastfood joint like Burgerking, other American fastfood joints like McDonalds in New Zealand opted for Tomato sauce instead.

Well Heinz from memory brought out a local sauce manufacturer but kept producing tomato sauce under the original name. I believe they normally import ketchup while tomato sauce is produced locally.
But in general alot of companies product both types. I hardly seen ketchup in a local supermarket it's mostly tomato sauce.
