In all the local college degree program commercials it's all single Mom's that got knocked up at 17 and they want a 'better life for me and my son'. In our area, I think they're mostly targeting welfare parents and encouraging them to find something they're interested in. On the other hand I see it easier for guys to get great paying jobs (labor intense) without a higher education. My husband makes 90K a year with no degree! I have a degree and make 30K. Combined it's great, but individually you can definately see a big difference. If I were single and had a kid 30K wouldn't be too bad since I have a degree. We don't have kids yet. It's getting so expensive now days. I don't blame them aiming education towards women. They need to be prepared for the future. Plus, if anything were to happen to my husband I'm grateful I'm educated and will be able to support myself.
