Why are you afraid of the dark?

Because I'm incredibly racist.

People are naturally scared of the unknown. When you eliminate what I think is our most useful sense in terms of processing the world around us, our sight, everything around you becomes "the unknown". There could conceivably be anything in the same room as you, and you could never know provided it was quiet enough. Even though it is very unlikely that you're in real danger it's quite a scary though, so I never sleep in complete darkness.

Truth be told, I'm just paranoid of the things I can't see. So, when it's dark (as in pitch-black-my-eyes-can-barely-adjust dark) I imagine intruders, spiders, or ax murderers creeping about both in and out of the house. Then again, I'm not super afraid, I can still walk into a dark room relatively calm.

I believe im afraid of the dark for numerous reasons. One would be when i was younger i slept out on the couch for a week and every night id wake up right when my grandmas grandfather clock rang. The sheets would be on the floor even if i tried wrapping myself up in them. Id hear noises in the kitchen and get freaked out...then id either run for the lights or theyd turn on by themselves. When i walked to the kitchen all the cabinets would be open. Another reason might be when i was younger i liked to hide from people....so when i was bored id hide under the covers and pretend someone was trying to find me i even scared myself haha...i would barely breathe. I also have an active imagination...though my fear of the dark has gotten worse...another reason is when i was 16 i couldnt go to sleep even with the lights on (worse in dark) because i started hearing voices and thinking someone was watching me and was going to hurt me...XD

If you have an imagination then you will fear the dark, once you lose your imagination you'll have nothing to fear.

I fear it because of the lack of light...

I'm afraid of it if I'm in the suburbs or a rural area, but if I'm in a city then I'm fine:)

Usually I'm not afraid of the dark. But if I start thinking about it I become terrified.

I love the dark!

This is difficult for me as I cannot sleep unless it is totally dark (strangely I'm ok having a nap in the middle of the day, but at night it has to be dark).

I have been like this since a child, I would insist from a very young age on the door being shut so the light didn't shine in and no gaps in the curtains....so maybe I'm a bit weird lol

because It reminds me of black people and black people are scary like ghosts and ghosts are really fucking scary so I think Its a deep seeded issue...

in the dark everyone is equal even intruders...unless they have night goggles like in silence of the lambs *shiver

I'm not afraid of the dark, but I sometimes get the feeling something is in the background of the dark trying to get me. Ofcourse, I challenge that feeling and don't bother turning on any of the lights, just to show I'm not afraid, which I'm not.

There are evil things in the dark, like myself for instance.

My father was abusive, and sometimes would scream or beat me awake.

Also, I have delusions of dead people that I have seen in photographs screaming and coming to beg me to help them or in other scenarios they are angry that I looked at their pictures for entertainment. This is a recent thing though.

I also have a fear of ghosts. I'm afraid of things that I can not see or control and ghosts are one of them.

Of course I know that there is no such thing as zombies or ghosts, at least not in MY reality. But that doesn't stop my mind from creating those images.

i fear the dark because i believe in the paranormal (spirits, ghosts, ETC) i can't walk through the house without turning the lights on and when i turn them back off i run back to my room, sometimes when i'm in my room i have to have a light on because i think that ghost's and spirits are in my closet

Because I might fall over something or hurt myself or someone might be watching me...
