The fact that its hurts makes me suspicious about it but keep in mind people develop alot of knots on the their necks under the skin. I use to get quite a few and still have one but you cannot see them they are under the skin and you can only feel them if you press down. I ask a navy doc about it and he told me it was nothing to worry about. If it hurts though id maybe see a doc about it.

I've actually had something just like this. Look, i cant tell for your situation (everything differs, ya' know). But for me it was just swollen glands or something, and it went down after about a week. You should go see a doctor though, just to make sure.

I get the same thing sometimes,could be caused by a pinched nerve.That by itself wont cause a lump but,compensating for the discomfort can pull muscles.See a Doc, not a chiropracter.

It could be a sist or something more serious go to a doctor and check it out. Better to be safe than sorry.
