I really think your mother needs to take a chill pill. Like...right now. Maybe it would have helped a little down the line if you told her. But whatever.

You have ALL the right to be mad/pissed/ as sadistic as you want. Coz if she can't accpept you for being an atheist(And ask YOU, for an apology) then I think it best you sit her down and talk her through it. Try to make her udnerstand.

And to be unserious now, if she still doesn't think it right. Then I ask you to bitch slap her and etrange her forever. XD

My Mum's a Catholic (but a not very devout one. She doesn't go to church and told me once she doesn't believe in angels, but she is fascinated with saints) My Dad was raised Catholic but is now a Freemason. In a way you could say he's Jewish but not really, he believes in the OT but will actually tell you all the holes in the New Testiment.

My Brother is a dug adict, He's semi-fanatical, keeps switching to this or that bullshit religion. I say semi-fanatical because he's a much bigger siiner than I am, and I'm an Atheist. He's in jail now, actually. Robbed a Mac Donalds.

My brother and I are like Superman and Bizarro. I'm Superman.

She's a hypocrite, and WAY over-reacted. You can't barate people with philosophical questions on the spur of the moment.

its your mom and our family will always be there making us crazy and pushing our buttons and you know what they will always be there for us too.

there is a thing called agreeing to disagree, so sometimes things never get wrapped up neatly but that is ok.

Weird, but that's how some religious people are, they try to act like they are all tolerant and understanding of other people's beliefs, but they don't really mean it. Screw her, you are your OWN person, and you can believe what you want. I myself am an atheist, and my mother is agnostic, we get along fine, but I bet if she was religious, I wouldn't talk to her, nothing is more annoying than people trying to shove their crap beliefs down other people's throats! Tell her to go fuck herself, and go on believing what you want.

magnum2 - moms get strange sometimes

sounds like a overreaction.let her be upset and forget about it,if she brings it up again then you could talk and tell her that you are your own person and have your own beliefs, that you respect her right to have hers and she should do the same.or not.

My mom does the same thing on various other topics. She even calls me a liar for never telling her things when I thought she could figure it out for herself and that it was REALLY insignificant.

You don't have to tell your mother everything. It's not fair for her to have such a reaction, nor to demand an apology for something which is your business, and, the way you put it, something she should have picked up on anyway.

Then again, her being religious might mean you have to make some things obvious.

abandonedhero - no choice

I really didnt have a choice as to leave it blank or not. It needed an answer and it wasnt a college application it was something for scholarships (FastWeb.com) The last time my mom and I went to church was when I was 10.

And the way she asked me was as if I had just said that killing people for sport is okay.

Moi - Should have left it blank . . .

Do they actually ask your religion on college applications'

Do you attend church with your family' If so, your mom obviously thought you believed in religon and thus had no idea that you were an atheist. Makes sense if that's why she got upset.

About you getting angry at her for the interrogation is normal, don't most teenagers hate being asked questions by their parents! I know I did!
