As with crumpets I know who your talking about. This nation may well fall as they underestimate their enemies and they are definately not the most advanced nation technologically speaking as they like to think they still have a lot of catching up to do especially in the area of internet and cell phones.
Yeah Id hate to see the US become like Britain-----ass kisser to anyone who'll protect it.
wow you said something i agree with....for a change
Ooooooh... im not gonna get into the whole US/UK thing but really, We would kick your asses! We ran the world for centuries.

Always out numbered. never out gunned!
lol you are such the comedian
Er, who says we need protecting? At the moment all we need protecting from is ourselves, seeing as that's where all the terrorists targeting Britain come from. And before you start on all that WW crap unlike the rest of Europe we were doing fine before the US came along thank you very much.
Go ahead and talk down the English, there are plenty of things about that place I dont agree with but think about it, its your place slack. They have gun control, isnt that every liberals dream? Their anti war protest put ours to shame I mean what more could you ask for?
I would never play any ww2 cards on you guys, I know quite a bit about the war. You got to understand though here in the U.S. the history lessons about ww2 are all about the normandy landing and how great the americans did and how we drove them across Europe and kicked the germans asses single handed. I never even knew the germans fought the russians on the eastern front until I found out out of school. Really sad isnt it?
Of course, that nation is the nation of the Internet. We should unite and conquer the outside world.
It's really like that in schools? I thought maybe it was just the movies...

Europe (including Britain) have a lot to be thankful for towards the US as far as WW2 goes (they weren't really involved in WW1) because nobody else was going to stop the Nazis, especially not the Russians who were as bad in many ways. To be honest I think that the US let Pearl Harbour happen so they had an excuse to enter the war, and they did pretty well out of it overall in that they got the glory of saying they defeated the Nazis and the Japanese, economically they did well out of it and it helped establish them as the world's leading superpower (along with Russia).
they let pearl habor happen?!

are you out of your mind?!

that is the dumbest thing i've EVER heard someone say

oh yeah the US was like "hey Japan, just go ahead and attack us and kill thousands of people...we just want to go to war with you guys."

The truth is out there!
I read what you wrote and I really dont see it all. I have heard about the attack on pearl harbor being predicted long before it happend and how alot more could have been done. A few people out there say that FDR knew it was only a matter of time and many lives could have been saved but he chose to wait for it to happen to boost his own personal image. I dont know if its true, I do think it could have been prevented though.

Our world war two history involves this,
Chapter 1, World War to
Section 1, Attack on pearl harbor
Section 2, Landing on Normandy
Section 3, Nazis killing 5 million jews

I may be over doing it a bit and there is a little more in there but for the most part thats what I learned and everything else about the war I had to learn on my own.

Has for the war in Europe, I dont think we have a whole lot to pride our selves on for bombing citys with inocent civilians living in them killing them by the thousands each run or our pilots strafing columns of homless civilians fleeing from the east. Those are the things you will not hear in school but we are quilty of. I think if schools want to betray everyone in Germany has a nazi jew killer then our crimes should make light also.
all you showed me was a damn website for a conspiracy theory

where are the facts??
Ever heard of sacrificing the few for the greater good? Ok, here are some facts, make up your own mind based on them.

1. The day of the attack the US navy attacked and destroyed a Japanese submarine near Pearl Harbour. Was it likely to be on its own in the middle of the ocean? Even so, you'd expect security to be beefed up with the current state of hostility between the two countries.

2. The radar station in Hawaii detected a massive fleet of aircraft approaching the island, which they assumed without checking that it was a US fleet, despite the earlier submarine incident.

3. Part of the US fleet was sent out on manouvers prior to the attack.

4. Very few of the battleships sunk that day were actually destroyed, most were recovered and repaired.

5. A lot of the flak fired by the US anti aircraft guns failed to explode and instead fell upon Honolulu, making the attack seem even worse than it actually was.

All these facts suggest 2 possibilities to me - either the US forces were very stupid at the time or it was decided that the attack should be allowed to occur to gain popular support amongst Americans for war and release the US from its isolationist policy. Also this would absolve the US from any blame for starting the war. Which do you believe?
For Pearl Harbour, see above. And if you want to know how I know all this stuff, it's because I've actually been to Pearl Harbour and was told all this stuff.

My experience of being taught about the war (and my brother's) is the following: we don't really cover the actual war itself, more the rise to power of the Nazis and how life was within Nazi Germany before and during the war. I seem to remember being told about the Allied bombing raids on German cities and how entire cities were levelled. From the point of view that the Germans levelled huge parts of England, France and other parts of Europe (maybe Africa too) I think you could argue that what goes around comes around. This was a new era in warfare, civillians had never been targeted before on a large scale.
if you live in america some people think so.....but as for the rest of the people i think every country is developing at a pace thatis suffiecient to them...and america is just talk and destruction.....nothing special....if you ignore america (like a bully at school)... it will stop.
"From the point of view that the Germans levelled huge parts of England, France and other parts of Europe (maybe Africa too) I think you could argue that what goes around comes around."

Germany captured France pretty much completely whole.
And in England they mostly only went against military targets.

"civillians had never been targeted before on a large scale."
hell yes they had.
how do u think the europeans took over the american continent? In many places they pretty much killed every man, woman and child there was.
What do u think stalin did to 15 million farmers in the 1930's?
Those are just the first things that comes to mind.

Beware of going to any us "history" museums. I've been to some and i can tell ya, they're full of shit.
I love britain and its history, but Napolean Bonaparte alone whooped your asses, even with your russian and other allies
it is normal but they are not always the most civilized but they think they do. sometimes they can be the worst. just smile every time someone says it and act like you don't care and just be happy your your own country lol that's what i do
