Is It Normal?
What do you think?
Orwellian Society
Well, recently i've started reading 1984 by George Orwell (what a book) and i've suddenly started seeing all theese parralless between the book and society.

EG: Countries are all collected into large groups, such as Ocenia in the book. But knwadays, we have things like the EU and NATO, agreements for people to give aid and assistance and even fight for each other.

Or the things like the 'Junior Anti-Sex league' in the book, which sounds like the ring campaign or whatever about not having sex till married and only for creation.

Or even the editing of the past, which in my opinion seems to link in with things like my histroy lessons being basedaround englan and only england.

Am i messed up?

Sensible comments please (helps if you read the book)

Never read it, you are doing a bad job of desribing it. I suggest you read books on history not fiction.
That was the point of the book- to allow for people to draw parralells from the book to society. A way to indirectly scrutinize.
Bush has given us Big Brother in so many ways.spying, wiretapping and propaganda have been taken to levels that Orwell only hinted at in his book.
oh really, so why didnt I hear about him getting caught wire tapping? The only people who have been wire tapped are those who endanger our society.
why in your mind are you the only true american? Why can you not realize bush is where he is because he is twice the man you are? You think you can handle politics? I doubt it. Dont get so ass hurt he was born rich and his daddy was president and he joined the reserves dont let it butt hurt you.
If they did tap regularly (and they probably do), you would certainly not hear about it from the government lol

until it leaks out of the government! :)
