Japan is awesome, everyone is incredibly polite although a lot of people seem to be quite wary of foreigners. If you shop around you can find really cheap places to eat, but it's harder if you don't speak Japanese. Most things in Tokyo have English subtitles anyway so it's easy to find out where you are. However it's impossible to find a particular address as they don't have street names as such so it's just pure luck if you manage to find a place. Many things are quite expensive though, especially alcohol and accomodation, and they don't seem to have large supermarkets or sell many basic western foodstuffs like bread or milk.

Japan is a very clean country with very polite people. Parts of it are quite beautiful if you get away from the city. The problem I have with Japan is the cost of living, it is astronomically high. If you go out to eat or want to purchase things you have to be careful as prices are very high compared to most things in the USA. I spoke to a Japanese student visiting the USA and mentioned to her the cost being so high in Japan and she explained to me that you have to know places to go where products are cheaper and then it is not so expensive. Your best bet is to just ask the locals where they suggest to eat and where to shop. Locals often know what is best.

As far as stature goes, it is true, many of the Japanese women are short and quite petite, especially compared to what you may be used to seeing when living in the West.

I think you will enjoy yourself, have fun, seeing new places is often rewarding.

If ur profile is true and u really r 16, then well, the girls apparently cant get enough of u. i had a friend who left earlier this year, talking to him on MSN he said that he was treated like Brad Pitt over there, and that he was huge compared to the rest of them (in height), whereas back in Aus, he was pretty small. have fun over there, from what ive heard it sounds really good.

I went to Japan (tokyo) a few years ago. The people i encountered there were very friendly. I don't think you should have any problems while there, unless you end up pissing someone off.
