Is It Normal?
What do you think?
Being the Reassuring One...
I'm quite tired of constantly dishing out sympathy and understanding to people as if it were candy just to boost their self-esteem. Is this normal?

ok
Yes and no. I think sympathy is a great attribute to one's character and should be used when needed. Even though it may seem sympathy is like candy It makes people feel better even for a few minutes.

Well then stop doing it if it bothers you so much. Clearly you have nothing to complain about because you make the choice to "dish out sympathy and understanding" and maybe people come to you because you have made a repuation for yourself of being a good friend. Stop being a good friend and tell people to shut the fuck up and maybe you won't have to "give out candy" to people. Sorry it bothers you to be a good person.
I'm not alone
I feel the same way. People are constantly coming to me with their problems. I don't mind helping them, but whenever I need someone to lean on, no one ever seems to have advice for me...bastards
