Acne on arms, chest and back
Is it normal to have acne on the upper of my chest, back, and arms at the age of 18? (Male)
I have had it for years and am starting to wonder if it will ever go away! :(
I have showered daily for as long as I can remember and ti seems to make no difference.
Does anyone else have this and when is it likily to go away, if at all?
To deep clean your skin try picking up a bottle of isopropryl rubbing alcohol from any pharmacy and a bag of cotton balls. They are very inexpensive. The only thing to be careful about the alcohol is it dries out the skin so during the cold weather months you may want to avoid using it. You likely will still get the acne but it will not be as bad if you use the alcohol on it daily.
You also want to pick up some cover up where they sell cosmetics supplies in a pharmacy. Match the cover up to your skin color and use it on your face. The same cover up is what is in clearisil brand ointment so no shame in that. If you have it bad on your face it looks a lot better to hide it than to show large red zits.
The acne for the most part is something that is passed on through family and you just have to deal with it and manage it. It can also appear anyplace on the body, but mainly the face is a trouble spot for teens.
When I went through my acne problems back in my teens, my dermatologist offered me Acutane to take after I tried virtually all other medications, that while they helped, did not rid myself of the acne. The dermatologist handed to me a phamplet of all the risks that go with taking Acutane, some of the serious risks such as potential blindness and a lot of other potential side effects. In other words, she said the choice is mine, and I have to decide whether it is worth the risk. This in effect gives the doctors an out and frees them of any liability damage should it result in harm to your body.
I declined to take Acutane because of the high risk of side effects. Roughly just a year ago, I read about people suing the drug company that manufactures Acutane because of the damage it did to their bodies.
Controlling acne is what you want, but don't take any product that has some serious side effects. Acutane may work well for some but for others it can be disastrous. It is not worth the risk as the side effects can be horrendous if your body rejects it.
Just my opinion, but I'm very glad I never touched the Acutane because my acne eventually went away for the most part and only appears in areas that are barely noticeable and in small numbers.
All i can say is listen to sisophous....he knows!
