Slavery

Slavery, as practiced in the 17th century was different from any other form before as it was meant to be a permanenet system based solely on race. With the slave having no rights. Whereas in the past, Rome for example, slaves could still marry, own possessions given to them buy others, and eventually buy or win thier freedom, also it should be pointed out that during those times slaves where of vastly diffenent races and cultures, Britons(white) where just as likely to be slaves as Egyptians(Black) or Indians(Asians).
