Should I play the bass?
My friends are in a band, one of them plays the drums and the other one plays the guitar. One day, my friend that plays the guitar sad I should learn how to play the bass so I can join their band. I told my parents about this and they said that they would pay half and I would pay the other half on my birthday (August 31). But the problem is that by the time I learn how to play the bass, they will probably already have a bass player in their band. So, I ask my fellow Is It Normal members (you) for your comments, anything really about basses, and if i should learn how the play the bass. Thanks, sorry for any spelling mistakes.
Anyways, a couple years back my friends were in a band, needed a bass player (no lie) and wanted me to play. Almost the same story as yours. So I had my friend teach me the basics and I learned from there. I bought my own bass, amp, etc. I got bored of it (smoked too much pot) and it's now collecting dust in my closet.
What I'm saying is if you are really interested in it, go for it. If your not, it'll be a waste of money in the end.
REMEMBER: bass is the easiest to learn and hardest to master.
And if you can play a base guitar you can play any guitar.
basic Bass= 4 strings
Basic electric guitar= 6 strings
big difference.
