Is It Normal?
What do you think?
Brand clothing
I refuse to wear any clothing that displays a brand. I don't understand how anyone can pay to wear advertising. Do people really want to be walking billboards?

I tend to cut the brand off if it is too gaudy. Or do you mean things that say "OLD NAVY" Really huge across the front of the shirt? Because I don't buy that crap either. It's one thing for Lee Jeans to have that little brown thing on the back of the pants, but clothing that says the brand really large is just absurd.
@: silence
Yeah, I agree, especially Old Navy and Gap. I hate their stupid ads. I have a Levi's t-shirt but that's as far as I go.
Why pay so much for so little.
its crazy
Well, ya see, to me wearing a Levi's shirt is just as bad. I don't differentiate between Gap and Levi, if you wear a shirt that advertises them you're just being a whore. Same goes for "billibong" or "quicksilver."
I agree, I'm quite happy if there is a small discrete label tucked away, but they should be paying me if the label's emblazoned across the chest
So do I
I don't like to wear clothing with brand names all over them either, and it has been proven that non name clothes are as good if not in some cases better. It's great to see someone else here who has their own brain and is not like a sheep and wears all these silly names...I imagine these fashion designers have a good laugh at the general public, and think up stupid names just to take the p*** out of them. I bet if you was a designer and thought up a name to put on your "T" shirts like: "I'm a loser, stab me to death now!!!!" and got a famous boy band to wear them........you would sell millions of them!.

What about Coke? Do you refuse to carry a can of coke around too? You must also be pretty careful about what toothpaste you buy, what food you have in your fridge and what shampoo you have in your shower. You'll never get rid of corporate advertisements so unless you really want to live in the middle of nowhere, I would give.
Holding a coke can isn't the same as wearing a coca-cola t-shirt. Why would you be willing to walk around all day advertising a product?
♥ Well, okay.
Some people just like it, okay? I wouldn't really consider it advertising, unless you're like, a celebrity or something.
i hate wearing brand name clothes like abercrombie or billabong or any clothing that preps wear because i am no rich spoiled boy.. i hate it...guys that wear pink shirts..its not cool its homsexual and wrong... boys are meant to be men..plus its too gauty. i like to wear regular blue jeans and a regular clored dark shirt. I aint no prep.
Masculinity is bullshit. Everybody needs to just be themself.

The pink shirt think would be cool if it wasn't popular. It would be a great way to show that you're beyond societal convention. Unfortunately, nowadays, since it's popular, you just look like a follower.
BRAND NAMES
I also dislike simple tee shirts show off a clothing brand. Brand logo shirts are tacky. It's especially pathetic and tacky because some kids actually believe wearing a shirt with "Hollister" or "American Eagle" across the chest signifies some sort of prestige. This crowd is certainly the unenlightened. Hollister seems to be the current clothing company that is "all about the brand". It's sad. People are stupid. Hollister was invented by corporate staff and executives. The brand has no history and is fictional and emphasizes a faux surf theme. Sad. On the other side, subtle logos of established, historical brands are ok. Lacoste's croc, Ralph Lauren's "polo player", the Penguin. The croc and Penguin are even cute. But regardless of whether the brand name or logo represents history and true presige, it is tacky to wear it for the sake of showing off.
I wear whatever looks cute name brand or not. i dont like huge logos but i dont mind small ones and i wonder who made up the trend of straight guys wearing pink shirts. its not hot at all. it looks retarted.

Pink on Guys
Originally is was a good idea, I would think. Pink has always been a tradtional-preppy staple for guys and girls, right? That is fine and original.
And whoever decided to wear pink to go against the moronic tradition that pink is "for girls"--well, that was an excellent idea. It shows they're independent and are not afraid to go astray from societal convention or whatever.
Only now is pink a problem. It's a problem because it's too popular and all the fake posers/followers have made it a trend. So now it doesn't really make you stand out. It just makes you look like a loser/follower. It sucks.
If pink hadn't become trendy and popular among the masses, I would have worn it just to distinguish myself and make a statement. Of course, I may also have needed to carry a man-bag and a can of pepper spray to fuck over those ignorant enough to confront me. Haha. That would really be fun, like a game.
Pink on Guys
BTW, I'm a guy and my above post reflects that.

REMOVE THE BRAND
I like when big busted girls remove the sweatshirts that have brands on them. It is better that they advertise their big bare breasts than some old Navy logo. Right?
YEA
NOW WHO COULDNT AGREE TO THAT!!!!!!!?
yay!
Thank goodness, I hate brand names purely because you end up paying about a tenner more for clothes just because they have a certain word on them.
is it normal?
im in advertising. its great to see that its working. you're all reacting to the advertising by debating this issue. You are drawn to images and constant ads. It generates millions of dollars that help you live the amazing lives that you live. Embrace it, dont over do it. again, thank you for reacting to the power of ads. That is normal. but then, what the hell is normal? the bud frog ad campaign? nothing normal about that. but it worked.
Agreed!
Umm ok I definitely wear hollister that doesnt make me and advertiser or anything.. tackyy?!?!

yea right!

just because you cant afford it dont rag on people that can. You all are being judgemental and HIPORCRITICAL! You say that you dont want to be classified as anything. Your definitely judgeing calling "hollister wearers" preps!

nice going HIPS!
So what if you wear Hollister, American Eagle, Billabong, Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic, Tommy Hilfiger, Abercrombie, Aeropostale, Express. It dosnt make any different of a person. Just because you cant afford something nice like that dont be such a hater. Some of the most nicest people in the world waer clothes like that and its not them advertising. Im sure you would have no prob. wearing South Pole, or New York Threads, or Levies. Every Piece of clothing that you waer is made from a designer and just because its a couple bucks less dosnt mean your still not advertising for them......think about it.....practice what u preach!!!!!

Love The Other Prep!!!!!!!!
I personally don't mind wearing designer clothes. I think it's great to have nice things.

But I understand that it's not cool to have HUGE labels on everything.

Abercrombie, ect, is not for preps. Anyone could wear it. Same goes for people who wear things from Wal-mart, doesn't mean your poor right? No it doesn't it just means you have a certain taste of clothing.
i agree, their are brands and designers i like to wear (kenneth cole, calvin klein) but i don't wear the gaudy brand saturated stuff. at the same time, as a designer, it is important to brand your work.
