I'll be following this thread for sure. My son has been hounding me endlessly for an XBox 360 for months. I think he wants the Pro Version; I'll be damned if I can keep up with this stuff.

I can't figure out how so many parents are able to afford these systems, particularly when you factor in all the bells and whistles kids seem to want to go with it (special controllers, the games right after they're released AND the manuals that have the cheats and other special instructions, etc.)
I have a PSP and a PS2 I will stick with Sony their systems do so much more than the others they are the leaders in gaming consoles.
Get the 360, if only for Halo 3, great game.

@JanIAm
A word of advice, unless you really need the pro version, do not get it, as it is a real waste of money. all it gives you is more memory which you'll never use, and a couple of extra cables.

If he's looking to play it online, then the best thing to do is to get a basic pack and then subscribe seperately to the online bit.
get the 360////// sony p s has been left behind in the dust.
I agree with Cabinet the PS2 is awesome but the new PS3 is the best the graphics are unbelievable.I am thinking about purchasing one soon.

You can also play the new blue ray DVDs on this system so your getting a game console and a DVD player in one package.
Yeah I agree with him. Just purchase the normal startup package with the 20GB hard drive is in my opinion is sufficent for most users anyway.

PS3 has great graphics but if we got back to the PS1 vs the N64 though the N64 was 64 bits vs the PS1 32 bits the reason the PS1 won a lion share of the market because it had more games available to it's user hence more choice and since it used CD based technology it could play audio CDs and some VCDs as well.

Blue ray vs HD DVD
I'm rather reserved on the matter it's basically too early to see which one would become the standard. Though HD is showing an early gain.

Even though Blue Ray may be "better" doesn't mean that the market would accept the stardard. If we go back a while and recalled the war of the Video Tape Standards VCR vs Beta even though Beta was more superior in sound and audio quality it was pushed out of the market thanks to Sony's push.
Cabby it sounds like you are quite up to date in your knowledge of the new HD and Blue ray DVD players.

After researching this new technology i decided to purchase the Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player.I have not regretted my purchase.I also purchased a 42 inch panasonic plasma tv with the HDMI cables to hook everything up.I can honestly say i had never seen picture quality like that, its totally awsome. My surround sound system consists of 6 Cerwin Vega speakers that really thump.

I am considering buying the PS3 game console because i like the graphics and the fact that then i will have the capability to play both HD DVDs and Blue Ray DVDs.Do you think that the XBOX 360 is better than the PS3 system?
Great choice on the HD DVD purchase and the Plasma TV god invite me over for a test drive especially during superbowl.

Well about the PS3 vs the Xbox I'm not entirely convince with the PS3. Though I do agree it has better graphics I see no point of having good graphics when your game range is limited to a few good games which happens to be my main argument hence postponing my decision to purchase the PS3.

The Blue Ray DVD standard hasn't really made a impact on other electronic brands to take up the standard. HD DVD has being adopted by most of them including Sony themselves. One question that comes up and maybe you could realize my point - would movie companies with the exception of Sony Pictures would want to spend money on two type of DVD standards? It would be obviously cheaper to produce in the standard that all if not most DVD player producers use as oppose to producing Blue Ray disks for just the Sony Brand.
Oh what pisses me off about the xbox 360 is their decision to not integrate their HD DVD player into the main console (like how PS3 has integrated their blueray drive in their console). If I needed an HD DVD I had to purchase this ugly HD DVD box that resembled a CD writer external unit for computers.
fukn hell Gizzie youve done well there do you find it hard to leave the house now good purchase
I really do appreciate any words of advice I can get on this subject. Thanks!
you are retarded...
