Is It Normal?
What do you think?
Losing onesself
Often times when I was still in school, or nowadays when I'm in a particularly long and boring meeting, I would lose thread of what was going on and sort of zone out. There's obviously nothing abnormal about that, but sometimes I would focus on the speaker and kind of step outside myself for a second. I would wonder if what I was doing or seeing was even real, was I really sitting in this desk listening to this person, was I really even me?

This is competely normal and everybody who is normal does this once in a while. Probaly a need to find out why we are here and what are purpose on earth is. I often think about how my life could be a book and I am a character in it and somebody is reading me. Everybody does it.

Well, normaility is a very fluid concept.
But in this case, you seem to be experiencing attention deficit disorder-like tendencies. ADD is not anymore of a burden then it is a blessing. It allows one to observe from a completely different vantage point, however it also may hinder one to participate in an acceptable manor. I would say that what you're doing is not abnormal and it is not normal. Normality is inexistent in reality aside from means medians and modes. But you should actively try to stop such occurences from blocking productivity.
I think it's needed in our daily, boring lives. Offic Space, anyone?
