Is It Normal?
What do you think?
Dark Spots
Is it mormal that whenever I get tired or stressed out I see moderate sized dark dots flowing across my eyes? They usually flow away from me and then fall down. It reminds me of a waterfall to get a good visulization of it. My eyes have never had any problems before and I don't wear glasses so I have no clue what it might be. Any ideas?

Skybird, it's common to most, those are called floaters. Maybe you should give your eyes more rest away from the comp.

I have that all the time. I'm not sure what it is, but I just call it ghost colors. And sometimes there are these little water drops "waterfalling"

OOOh, or like, when you close your eyes and see this coloered shape, and then you see that shape and color when you open your eyes.

Ignore the people with a collapsed arse.

the things you describe happened to me when i had 2 hrs sleep after going to the west coast to look at a landslide or the energy slump when you have 6 espresso. its excessive tiredness and being old now i have to say "Get to your bed early"
Floaters
I got em too, I first saw them as a teenager . . .

They CAN be an indicator that a miagrain is coming on(that's when I see mine). It's pretty common so don't worry about having a tumor or anything(that's what I thought).
They're called eye pixies, and they won't hurt you so long as you're nice to them and don't close your eyes too much.
to the person above, shut up or see a doctor. I get them whenever I'm about to get a masive headache
Optical Phenomena
I learned to see something similar to what you are describing in my early teens. I could lie on my back and stare into the blue sky, and while perfectly at peace in the early afternoon, see the moving irregularities of light against the fairly even field of blue sky.

The blood vessels in the retina can excite the photo-receptors there and produce patterns that are typically screened out during perception. But they are always there if you check for them. They may be more obvious when your blood-pressure is higher or when you have eyestrain.

Someone else mentioned colors that are there when you close your eyes and then appear again when you open them. Those are a different phenomena, after-images, caused by a delay in resetting the photo-receptors after looking at a relatively bright object. Like overexposure in a camera. These become more persistent as you age because the time to reset the photo-receptors increases.

I so hate the inability to ban or otherwise punish anonymous posters. Oh if I knew that person I'd beat him so badly....
wildsketch
to add to wilsketch's accurate assessment:

They can also be caused by what another poster referred to as "floaters". These are blood cells that have gotten loose from inside the retinal capillaries and are now floating in your vitreous humor (gooey bit of the eyeball). That's normal and they'll find their way out or deteriorate and be reabsorbed.
i ahve the same thing. I always wondered what that was
