It depends on your culture and bekiefs. A promise SHOULD be kept. However, one sometimes "promisses" not to tell anyone just to find out what the "secret" is.
A real man (or woman) should NEVER break a promise. A broken promise is a betrayal of trust and without trust there is nothing.

I think that promises should be kept. A life with honour, or no life at all ya know (not literally)
