sometimes I have that feeling. And have heart flutters. the best thing is a cone it relaxes you so you can sleep.
you just got stuck in a nightmare that happened to me before (i pee my pants when it happened)
There is a name for this.
That has happened to me. It is not unknowen. When you fall asleep the part of your brain that controls movement is turned off. (this is to prevent sleepwalking and personal injury) but sometimes you can become concense yet still have that part of your brain be turned off for sleep and you get that paralasis. People used to think it was demons but actually it is nothing more then your brain trying to wake up.

Nothing to be scared of!
If you're that frightened you should get help. I used to get night terrors...thats like when you wake up..you're not really awake..but you can see the room...and you're filled with like a horrible irrational terror.
Good news; it's not going to kill you, and it's completely normal. The poster 2 comments above gave a pretty good description of what's happening. The term for this is "sleep paralysis" or "waking paralysis". There's a tonne of information about this on the web.

Try to avoid sleeping on your back, as statistically you're several times more likely to have an episode than via any other position. Avoid stress, especially just before bed. If you have an episode, try moving small muscles (toes, fingers, eyes) as they are more likely to work, and this will usually bring an end to it. You can even control it, and attempt to use it to lucid dream.

I suggest reading up on this online. Do a Google search for "Preventing and Coping with Sleep Paralysis" (including quotation marks) for a good page.
been there
sounds like you're waking up in a deep trance. it can be painful and fearful, but you can also do interesting things. look up astral travel.

astro travel
yeah, you can have so much fun! A good idea mentioned above is astro travel. You would probably find this really easy to do. look it up on the net.
What you are describing is called Sleep Paralysis. It is not super common, but it is a diagnosed and studied condition. I read a big artical about it in some science mag. about 2 years ago (Discovery?). I think it's sometimes also called wakeful dreaming. Your body is asleep, but your mind is awake. You are paralized, but your eyes are open and you can see your bedroom for instance. Often it is associated with feelings of terror and with feelings of suffication. You can have vivid "waking dreams" that are normally very frightening. Some people theorize that this is where Alien Abduction stories come from as the symptoms are close to the experiences abducties describe.

So no, you're not the only one that this is happening to. I've had it happen to me a couple of times. Very frightening. I have been able to force myself awake, but then, like you am too scared it will happen again to go back to sleep for a long time.

You might want to speak to your doctor about it, as I think it may be associated with sleep apnia (not spelled right) which is a condition where you stop breathing in your sleep. Normally you only stop for a couple of seconds, but if you get it fixed, you will find that your sleep leaves you feeling much more well rested.
wow nigga! i aint readin all that shit!
agreed.
take an english class
..nigger
i've read about this somewhere, i dont remember what its called, but its a sign of either insicurity in your life or an immense fear of things that have happened in your life. Go to a therapist tell him about this, that will help
TRY WARM MILK AND HONEY BEFORE BED ......DRINK IT ! NOT RUB IT IN......
