It is an urban myth that you can die in your dream. You will not die if you die in your dreams. falling dreams are quite common. Even the shock afterwards is normal.

this thing where you can't move, I've not experienced it myself but it's not unheard of. Not an expert myself, but talk to a doctor. But don't worry, it's not that serious.

I have woke up in that paralyzed state and I have to admit its terrifying. Usually I struggle and I slowly come out of it. If it takes you a long time to come out of it, or it happens often, you might have some sort of sleep disorder. Its not going to kill you, but it might be worth seeking help.

normal123 - you're welcome

I'm glad I was of some help (regarding the mind being a powerful thing). Hopefully your revelation about connecting these two things will allow you to not have these feelings again! Best of luck to you!

normal123 - the mind

The subconscience mind can be a very powerful thing! I know it seems so real to you but if it was real you would actually be on the floor after having fallen and would be in those exact surroundings as was in "the dream" when you actually become fully awake and are back to your normal state. Again, the mind is a VERY powerful thing! Also, as a safety feature, your body becomes somewhat paralyzed during sleep and even when you are somewhat awake some people seem to be "frozen" in that they cannot move even though they want to; I have had little mini panic attacks in the past where I just start falling asleep and then I am somehow awakened enough to be aware that I am awake and I get this panic that I can't sit up even though I am trying to; it lasts for about 30 seconds (but seems like forever) and then I can "shake it off" and come fully into reality and move again... it is scary! But it's all in my mind and fortunately that hasn't happened in a few months.

Also, many years ago I remember having recurring dreams that I had fallen and the only way I could move around was on my knees... it was weird and it was so vivid and I could remember all the fears and feelings I had when I was on my knees and couldn't stand up. That recurring dream must have happened like 6 or more times in a year and it was a bit scary and just weird.

If this really has you worried, seek professional help; they might be able to provide some anti-anxiety meds that will help calm you down.
