The definition of repenting:To feel regret or self-reproach for: repent one's sins.
That's all it is.You submit to God,and admit what you have done wrong.This is usually done by going to "confession".You'd have to talk to a priest about your sins and trully feel guilty about it and ask for Gods forgiveness.If you do that,go to church every week,get baptized,first confession,etc...and if you don't do an unpardonalbe sin,then you will get to go to heaven.I hope that answers your question.

Jenisis,I don't know what you mean by "do you pay tithes or offerings?".But if that question was directed at me,then I suppose I don't pay as much tithes as I would like to.It doesn't matter if you don't donate much things to the church,as long as you contribute something,then it is fine.I do volenteer when I can at the church.If you help people in need,if you care for them,if you even have a smile on your face to show your appreciation for your
existance,then it is fine.It means that you are a good person.I guess that you have your own beliefs and I respect that.I will not try to force my religion on you.I am happy that you do believe in God and you sound like a good person.So,in my opinion,I believe that you will definately go to heaven.However,I do encourage you to join some
sort of organized religion.(Even if you do have your own beliefs,and don't want to follow every rule of that religion.)

JD, thank you for telling me that you think I'm a good person. I think so anyway. I belonged to First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in New Brunswick New Jersey since I was a baby. I left and never looked back after college. I've learned the ins and outs of that church and others. enough to know that I can't be a part of hipocracy when it comes to my soul. Do you know what I mean? I really can'r get into church polotics right now, but just know that church and a few other killed it for me. However nothing will redirect my personal walk with God. To the original writer of this post. In one of your re-posts, you stated that you agree that God loves the sinner but not the sin. But, you said you hated people who committed such major sins like rape, murder, etc. Are you aware of the fact that your condemnation and your hate is just as much a sin, and it is just as detestful in the sight of God? Every time you point a finger, look at the three pointing back at you. God is the king of kings and the lord of lords. He is the judge, not you. And, I don't think he appreciates it when one of HIS creations takes it upon themself to judge for him. You need to realize that he created everything and everyone on this Earth, and he knew us before we were even in our mother's womb. He penned the story of our lives, including the homosexual hurdles some have to face. And, unless you are perfect, which no one is, you really don't have any business judging others. Use that energy to better yourself. Spend some more time looking at the areas of your life that need improvement, so that you can be the absolute best that you are capable of being. And, remember, God is love. Loving one another is the most important thing that he wants us to do. So, if you are festering in hate, you have some work to do.

Odiedo,I understand what you mean.And you know what,you are right.I shouldn't be pointing the finger.
I'm trying to stop judging people and start keeping my personal opinions to myself.At first I thought that I
was preaching but I was really hating.I still think that homosexuality is a sin but I will NOT try to force my beliefs on other people.People can live their lives however they want.It is up to God to judge their sins,not me.

Yea odiedo you are absoultley right about everything you said!! I have the same problem John Doe has and i do occasionally point my finger but i know it is wrong for me or anybody else to do. He means well and so do I but sometimes we just dont think. Its not our places to tell people what they are doing wrong like i said in an earilier comment. That just makes people want to hate us instead of looking at the truth behind it all. God is the only one who can condemn anybody and people do need to learn that as well.

Why do you take the parts of the bible about homosexuality seriously and yet ignore its food codes? You're pretending some of God's orders are more important than others, and God is going to punish you for that judgement.

Jenisis ok girl you have a couple very strong points. And these points are why i did not belive in god and the bible in the begining. Ok i have attended a few diffrent churches of diffrent religions. Catholic,baptist,pentacost,and assemblies of god. And it made me wonder what is the true religion. I mean they all have diffrent beliefs. And i thought it was rediclous that you had to confess your sins to a preist and give offerings to a church and things like that. And this is something i didnt want to have to do, because in my opinion if you belive in god no matter what religion, you are better off then not believing at all. Please nobody take this to heart because i know there are people on here that are christians but dont attend the same type of church as me, And thats fine. Ok so i wanted to find the "True religion" or as close to it as possible. So i took my knowledge of the bible and did a whole lot of reserch on many religions. I know that confessing your sins to a preist or holy being cant be right because the bible says you can only be saved through god. That means talking to god not a preist. And some religions when they pray they use the prayers out of the bible during mass to pray to god. The bible says you should say your own prayers, basically speak to god from your heart. Talk to him as you would another person in real life. Tell him the things that you have done wrong and if you are truly sorry then tell him that you are. Also some religions pray to statues of jesus and the bible says its is wrong to pray to a statue. No matter what kind of statue it is its still a statue it is not jesus. And then there is religions that say you have to dress a certian way or wear your hair a certian way. That is tradition. nowhere in the bible does it say that you have to dress a certian way to make it to heaven but it does say that tradition mixed in with christianity is wrong. Some religions belive that once you are "saved" you are always saved and that cannot be true you cant be saved and then go out and murder someone and expect to go to heaven, unless you confess your sin to GOD and be truly sorry for what you did. There are alot more of them but i know you probably dont want me to babble any further lol. These are just some of the flaws i have found in various religions and im not saying if you are in one of these type of religions you are wrong. I like to think of it as you have been misguided in my own opinion. Oh and i did want to point out one thing. If a preacher or priest or pastor or whatever gets paid for being the leader of a church then that type of church is not to be trusted. You are not suppost to get an income for spreading the word of god. You are suppost to do it out of the goodness of your heart. My church assemblies of god, asks for offerings but the money does not go to the pastor. The money goes to the church. Because think of it this way how can a church function without any source of income? If there was no money going into the church there would be nothing to pay for the electric, the water bill,ect. We are not required to pay offerings and some people dont but you should give a little money out of the goodness of your heart because without it you would have no church to go to. I hope i have enlightened you a little bit. and if you want to find the religiion that is right for you then you should do some research yourself. i wish you only the best!!

Thank you for your input anonymous. I feel the same way about the church and funds. I'm not sure how many of you live in the US, but there's a plethara of gigantic, 20,000 seat churches here, and the ministers have private jets, boats, yachts etc. How do I benifit from attending a church like that? I watch these men/women prance around in there 1 million dollar suits, and contantly ask for my offering so they can live the lxurious(sp)life. I mean, OK I'm well off, but what about the sincere people who attend these churches that are poor, and want nothing more than to give one whole check to the church, for God. They are nothing more than massive money making giants. I think these people are ridiculous, and not out for the betterment of my soul. JD, I belonged to a church located in New Brunswick, New Jersey. New Brunswick is the city :) I will say I have a practice that I'm comfy with that gives my all to God. I will never attend a church again.

I just wanted to comment on a few points that you made in your post. You said that once saved always saved is a flaw, a misconception. Let me ask you something. God is all knowing, correct? He knows what we will say, think and do before we do, correct? Well, if someone asks Jesus into their heart, and they truly mean it, and Jesus gives them that salvation, how can they lose it? Because, they commit murder ten years down the road? But, God is all knowing. He knew about that murder before they were born. So, if he were to give them that salvation, why would he take it away? It's like saying God made a mistake, and God doesn't make mistakes. When a person recieves Christ into their heart, I mean truly recieves them, they will naturally want to be more like Christ, loving and caring. However, recieving Christ does not make us perfect, we are still human, and we still make mistakes, sometimes great ones. My point is, faith, NOT works, saves you. Jesus wants a relationship with you, he wants to be a part of your life, he wants to know you. There are people who go their entire life without commiting a "major" sin, but they don't know God. Are they going to heaven? Salvation is actually quite simple, but it gets complicated by our legalism. You also stated in your post that a person shouldn't trust a church that pays their pastor. Well, I attend a methodist church and our pastor has his own home right on church property, which the parish provides for him. Are you telling me, because of this, I shouldn't trust my pastor. He has to eat too! He can't spend all his time on our parish and then make food, clothing and a home magically appear. It is something we give him, because he deserves it. Look regardless if you are Methodist, Baptist, Lutheran or Pentacostal as long as you believe the Bible, and you accept Jesus Christ as the son of God, all the other things don't matter. Religion is just that, religion. They are man made rules, that's what separates them. Religion is a big reason why a lot of people have lost their faith, because religions lay down all of these laws and restrictions. If a person has found a church that they feel comfortable and welcome in, than I wouldn't fill their heads with that propoganda. And, if a person doesn't attend any church, but they have a personal relationship with Christ, yet they'd rather remain non-denominationls because they don't want man made opinions forced on them, then I think they're doing just fine too.

Citizen Premier,Please don't tell me that God hates me,because that's not true.I understand that you are one that posted the God hates shellfish eaters.I don't want to get into a very big argument,but you are wrong.Jesus was a fisherman.Do you think that God hates him?God says in the bible(Genisis)that man has power over the earth.Which includes the earth creatures and the sea monsters.What that means is that we can eat animals.We can eat sea creatures because it is part of the food chain.So please do not take bible quotes out of context next time.

Odeido,That's cool that you are methodist.Unfortunately,I don't know much about that religion other than it being in the Christianity catagory.I am catholic.This is(I think) the largest Christian religion.Our views are a little different than yours.We believe that if you believe in Christ,and that he is the son of the lord and has born,died and risen again,and if you repent your sins you will go to heaven.You see,catholics believe that you are judges mainly on your sins and your good deeds.Of course,you are also judged on whether you believe in God or not,and have a personal relationship with Christ.We also believe in pergatory(but I'm not going to get into that right now.
