Raping someone is not a mistake. Taking advatage of another human is not a mistake. His friend CHOSE to rape that girl. A mistake is something that you accidentally do. You can't accidentally force yourself onto someone, and he CHOSE not to report the crime. It's not like you can "forget" to report a crime. A mistake is accidentally stepping on someones toe when they are behind you and you don't see them. That's a mistake. Witnessing a rape and not reporting is NOT a mistake.
