I am a baptist. yet i dont belive that god would enflict physical pain on those who dont belive in them, i just think he refuses them entry to heven, which must be such an emotioal letdown as to be neary as bad, however acording to reverlationthose who are not chistioan can still save themselves my siding with chist at the final battle. i reilsise that thats not what you belive, but bear in mind that not all chistians are as jusgemental as your friends apper to be.in the UK the baptist chusce toletates the belif that thee is no hell as such and so atitudes are far less jugemental. we also teach religios eduaction in schools whic explains why we actualt know about other eeligions and dont jump to conclutions about other faiths and dont have this strange "inteligent deisigne" argument as we can teach religion without trying to petent it is science. Maybe teaching RE in american schools wouls eliminate some of this anger and this semi-logical pydoscience.

i agree. i don't think anyone has the right to eternally punish anyone else. and i don't think anyone deserves eternal punishment. but i'm also an atheist. you can't change a person's outlook or behaviour, especially by threats of hellfire. but you can treat them with unconditional love and let them change on their own.

The beauty of the "Eternal Damnation" thing is that the concept of Hell has been officially denounced by the Vatican now. That doesn't seem to stop christians believing it, mind... after all, who's the church to tell them what god thinks?!??!

"Eternal damnation", heaven and hell, is an effective way of keeping the scared and paranoid in order. I leave them to it and enjoy my life.
