Is It Normal?
What do you think?
What's wrong with me?
Okay guys,(girls, gays, w/e) whenever I go to sleep on my right side, on my left side, and on my stomach, I sleep fine. But if I fall asleep on my back, I'll wake up a couple minutes later and my heart will be racing. I don't think I get enough air, so when I suddenly wake up, it's like I get an adrenaline rush to get my heart started again. Obviously, some genius is gonna say, "Dumb ass, just don't sleep on your back", or, "Go to the doctor, dipsh*t" but other than that, anyone know what's going on with me?

Have you given any thought to "sleep apnea." I'm no expert but as I understand it, there are people who in fact have their heart stop during sleep from time to time. It's important for those people to seek medical attention. It can be fatal so I'm told. I highly recommend you see your doctor.
are you overweight?
Yeah, I was going to ask what Slack asked. The only thing I can think of is maybe a bit of extra weight is pressing on your abdominal aorta when you lie on your back. That could restrict blood/oxygen supply to parts of the body. Pregnant women sometimes get this when on their backs but not on sides/front.
It is sleep apnea and you do not have to be over weight (although typically every patient is overweight). If your on your back, all the weight press' your lungs and stress' them. side to side one lung can fucntion at above average levels as they are basically gravity free. Ask your doctor about a C-PAP (continuous positive air pressure) If you have insurance they are typically covered after a sleep study is preformed and the levels of tritration are noted by your doctor. The a durable medical equipment provider can set you up with one.
OR, it could be something as simple as having too many pillows under your head thus restricting air flow when on your back because of the angle of the head and neck in relation to the rest of your body!
Go see a doctor
