Is It Normal?
What do you think?
I'm very, very skinny
Just asking a question, and asking for personal experiences based on something that really bothers me.

I'm about fifteen, soon to be sixteen, and I'm so scrawny my ribs poke out really far when I have my shirt off.

Enough to where if someone were to brush their hand down my torso they'd feel my chest, then a sharp rib bone jutting outward on either side, then my stomach.

So much so it's humiliating at times, I worry about this enough that it relates to so much--such as:

1) Girls not wanting a scrawny guy who's bones (ribs) poke into them during certain activities

2) Wearing a thin shirt, or not wearing a shirt at all--being self conscious in the knowledge that the poking ribs may show through.

What I'm wanting to know is, will this change later in life or is this just permanent? I've heard of people gaining weight after high school, after they were so skinny during that time.

Really it's one of the things I hate most about my appearance. :-(

Thanks for reading.

Well You're still young so its a good idea to start to lift weights just enough for you to handel I had the same problem also when I was you're age people use to call me Xylophone it was hurt full at times but it got funny in time. With you're size it should be easy. when I was 16 I was at 95LB after 8 months of working out I was at 120LBS.
Its your metabolism and its going to be hard for you to gain weight because your body just will not let it happen.

Has you get older your metabolism should slow down and you will wish it never did because you will no longer be able to eat whatever you want and you will have to start watching your weight.

The best thing to do is to eat and make sure you eat 3 meals a day and never miss one doing this will make you be able to eat more and your body will gain some weight and doing this and going to the gym to strength train you will gain muscle and look and feel better.

Just dont feel sorry for your self and be upset you need to just do something about it and be happy with who you are. If you want to improve your self then you need to work for it understand that.
listen kid dont come in here asking advice about your body .youll notice some pedos giving you quite detailed advice on how THEY'D like you to look.run away and keep that shirt on.
Whatever floats your boat...
Its just so funny how fags on this site get jealus of kids who come on here for advice. How old are we?
Chris' advice seems pretty sound, but I'd also suggest you speak to your family physician about your concerns. As far as I know, no one at this site is a trained nutritionist, endocrinologist, metabolicist, or any other -ist that I can think of.

By the way, if this is of any help to you: many years ago, I had a boyfriend who was 6 feet, 4 inches. He weighed just under 170 pounds, so you can imagine how thin HE was. He was a great lover and I also thought he was incredibly attractive. Not every woman out there is looking for a guy who's built like a massive bodybuilder.
Too long

-crank dat
I love skinny guys, tiny maybe. Id rather have a thin guy than a beefed out one...theres a few exceptions but....I think its hott.

Dont be embaressed.
MIstah, yo sho needs be ettin' some chiggen, oh chiggen yes sah miss Daiseh!
For those not noticing at first, I'm the person who submitted the original story here.

Astinos: I'm 140 pounds. I'm thinking weights would help, I suppose.

Chris_Ufc: Thanks.

slackjawedyockel: Okay.

JanIAm: Thanks, your post did help. If the info helps in determining my situation, I'm about 5'10 and 140 pounds.

Thanks, all, except for the people who are pretty much just spamming.
You let us know how it goes in a few weeks.
