I have horrible dreams, but I am too old

I have been having horrific dreams lately. they include, torture, death, beatings, people chasing me, getting tied up and tortured, and people breaking into my place. Also sleep paralysis, sleep talking, sleep walking. And apparently I had sex in my sleep but did the motions in real life. (humped the bed)

I had been dignosed with ptsd about six or seven years ago. So my doctor thinks the dreams spawn from that. So she gave me prozosin, which has been used on war veterans for the same problems I have.

Has anyone been on this med?
It is also used to lower blood pressure.

my doctor said she read an article in a magazine about it, last week. She has never prescribed it before. So I feel like a guinea pig.
Do you think it's normal?

type it into your search engine and you'll find out all about it.
heres the response from just one of the available answers when I searched it. Don't think I'd be taking it on these results cuz nowt wrong with your heart!

In order to determine and compare the pharmacodynamic responses to single and multiple dose prazosin therapy in cardiac failure, 14 patients with severe low-output heart failure underwent central and regional hemodynamic measurements after random placement in one of two prazosin dosing schedules. A single 5 mg oral dose of prazosin (Group A, no. = 7) significantly increased the cardiac index and stroke volume index while significantly decreasing systemic, pulmonary and pulmonary capillary wedge pressures and vascular resistances. Hepatic plasma flow and limb blood flow increased after the single dose. Striking attenuation of these hemodynamic effects occurred when the same dose was administered after 24 hours of pretreatment with oral prazosin, 2 mg every 8 hours (Group B, no. = 7). The plasma prazosin levels of the two groups, drawn 2 hours after administration, were 24.5 and 30.5 ng/ml, respectively. Repeated administration of prazosin in patients with congestive heart failure results in rapid attenuation of its beneficial central and regional hemodynamic effects. The usefulness of this vasodilator as a preload- and afterload-reducing agent in the clinical setting of chronic congestive heart failure may be limited by the development of pharmacodynamic tolerance.
Now THERE'S a unique idea. But, damn -- don't you think he might try tea and warm milk, and a nice relaxation tape first? ;-)
I have spent 5 years in the medical field 2 years of them connected to mental health, Prozac is a decent medication that has been used for quite a few years so most side effects are known and the cost of the pill is relatively inexpensive so that is why Doctors like to proscribe it. There is a good change that Prozac can help but it still may not or only temporarily help. The long term side effects of prozac have not proven its self to be to harmful but there are possible side effects to every medication I recommend speaking to your doctor about that. More in depth about your dreams I can not say with out knowing why you where diagnosed with PTSD and other major events and emotional situations in your life.
I have been in the medical field for over 9 years and have some knowledge about prozac. it is an anti-depressant but not for everyone and certainly not to be taken off of abruptly. as far as your dreams are concerned, i think you need to examine what events are going on in your life right now.alot of our dreams are connected to our awakened state, example, if you dream of a monkey behind bars, it could be telling you that you are feeling trapped or pinned in without an easy way out. i hope this helps you alittle and that you are able to find some form of peace in your life somewhere is the answer you need to feel aleviated from all you are experiencing. best of luck to you
I have spent over 3 weeks in the medical profession and I can say that you should drink oompa loompa blood. Its the perfect cure for this.
