Well congratulations on your pick. My views on this war and the troops have changed drastically over the past year and I respect the Army and what we are doing a lot more. You do realize going into the marines is a huge responsibility, right? Getting into shape, and most importantly serving the U.S.A. Remember, you will influence the war and even politics. I joined the marines and went and fought in Iraq twice and it was the best experience of my life. Shut the fuck up you know nothing you lib bitch.

You probably won't get the MOS you want unless you go to college first. If you go to college join the ROTC program. Make sure the college has one. You can make it in a combat MOS with any degree. I'm not sure about NCIS. You may or may not have to be an MP first. One way to go is the green2gold program, where you serve as an enlisted man straight out of high school and go into a special school for enlisted men to become officers. Study your arse off if you want an MOS that doesn't require a lot of men, but does require intelligence. Nothing in the military is like it is on TV. Be well aware of that. Cop shows are always off to. When I got through the end of my plan I decided I didn't want to be a cop, mainly because professors were encouraging me to go on to Masters or law school. I suspect after the Iraq war is over it will be a while before we get involved in another such moronic endevour. Stay away from the military subculture of alcoholism.

Officers are generally idiots compared to the NCO with a technically lower rank but more time in. That being said, if four years of college will get you better treatment I say go for it. I hadn't noticed that West Point officers were any better than ROTC officers. The captian that was my biggest idiot graduated from west point. The entire military is fed bullshit though. That's why I like it when someone is in the military, gets out and goes to a normal college to gain rank, and goes back in. The time out does one good. I was looking into rejoining after college, because I realized most soldiers were coming back misinformed. The military needs people who read more than briefings and the Stars and Stripes.
