Yea i hate styrophome too it makes a god aweful squeaky noise. like nails on a chalkboard omg that drives me nuts. and when my brother was little if i touched his car seat i would get shivers i dont know why this happens.

i have an exesive grooming habit, i dont particulary worry about germs, clenliness or my apperence, but i can not pass a tap witout letiing a little water run over my hands. i have herd that exesive handwashing is typical of obsesive compulsive behavior, and exsesive grooming has even been found in mice with a gene beleved to be liked to OCD. Does this meen that my whole family is Obsesive Compulsive? Can the condidtion run in families? My parents seem normal enough...

sorry, i am dyslexic and this, like all forums, has no speel check. I would type it into word, then check spelling and then post it here, but that would take to long. Besides, many counties have diferent spellings of diferent words, i myself have been crisisizesd by americans for using "wrong" spelling when i know i have checked it and my spelling is corect. i find no-one understands the dificulty of dyslexia and i find people who critisize my disability without knowing me anoying bigots. it just spelling for gods sakes. is this normal?

That has nothing to do with obsessive compulsive disorder. It is more reminiscent of the hypersensitivity found in people with autistic spectrum disorders. This is not a "psychological" problem as such, but a processing one. If you are worried then you could look up Carl Delacato's work with hyper/hypo sensitivity in people with autism. It may prove helpful.

Peep_ (2600), I didn't say that everyone displaying these symptoms are autistic, but it is a fact that this is the sort of thing often found in Autistic spectrum disorders. The key word there is %u201Cspectrum%u201D. Everyone is on the same processing spectrum, autistic or not, and we can learn a lot about ourselves by looking at the way other people process incoming stimuli.

Firstly, learn to spell. Secondly, you are saying that the problem is one of processing, or as you put it, %u201Cfiltering%u201D. That is not very far from what I myself was saying. I suggest that in the future, instead of jumping in and insulting someone, you might actually research what it was that they were saying.
