I wrote this. We really have to start to think about what we are all doing. Particularly with refference to the brother, sister, auntie, uncle, mother, father, incestuous type posts. We also need to get rid of the underaged elements here. THEY are what will eventually bring this site down. Simple really. The 'stories' printed here in are not suitable for kids. If you lot keep posting them and the kids stay, it is nothing short of a recipee for disaster!

Well, it is quite simple. Carry on as is and the site will inevitably be shut down because of the 'stories' on it and the age of some. The two just do not go together. We either have to get rid of the under 18's or we have to moderate the 'stories'. We will not get away with the combination as it is. It is just a matter of time before it gets either highly censured or, ultimately, shut down altogether.
I don't want to waste anyones fun or freedoms but these two are a recipee for complete and utter disaster.
We have the choice to change things and I think we really need to look hard on this and moderate ourselves before we lose the opportunity altogether.
There are some VERY CLEVER people use this site but they chose to behave like morons. Eventually, they'll simply kill the site.

Nearly, thank you for some very important and timely observations. This has been said before, but it certainly bears repeating, loud and clear. I enjoy the free-wheeling, anything-goes nature of this site, but we do need to be mindful of controlling our behavior before someone/something outside the site decides to control it for us. Some of the posts I have seen recently are not only pushing the envelop in terms of their capacity to be offensive in general, they also have the potential to evoke painful memories for those who may have been victims of sexual abuse and/or violence.

Since there is no official moderation at this site, we are the only ones who can do it, and I suggest that we start doing it now. As nearly says, none of us wants to see the site shut down. Therefore, one of two things must occur: The under-18 crowd must be eliminated, or the particularly inappropriate stories must stop. Otherwise, that recipe for disaster that nearly warns of is almost certain to become a reality.

Well, short of having moderators, we are not going to get rid of the youngsters. That really leaves us only one option and I feel most of us would prefer to moderate our own behaviour rather than having it done for us.

I am also quite sure there is at least one membership to this site which is legally orientated. We really should be looking at this matter as a matter of urgency. Every week we hear about different sites being investigated. We are in free fall here at the moment. We have to arrest this and keep ourselves free of sensorship or simply die for doing nothing. It is simply a matter of time unless we take the responsible course.

Its easy to see this site will eventually go down in flames but really we cannot do anything about it. The site owner has let the site run its self and he does not answer emails from anyone anymore. We cannot solve this problem. I guess its better to burn out then fade away sometimes..

We CAN sort it if we all pull together. We cannot afford to be complacent or negative. We HAVE to take control.

Its up to the sustaining members to just hold their ground and stay mature. The kids will come and go and new ones will always replace them.

Yes but when you get people like EW posting the next story up from this one, you see the battle we have. We have to ostrasize ourselves from him with stories like that. Make it known where posible who the writers are and make no comments other than outting them. SHAME them into better behaviour. Otherwise they will continue. Unfortunately all profiles are not open so we'll only be able to guess at some but hopefully they will see the wisdom of behaving better.

Sorry knucks. I was trying to decide if I like being called 'oldman' but I guess thats what I am eh! lol. You may well be right in your thoughts but things are getting way out of hand and we need to get a grip and reverse the trend. Either that or go down the tubes. This site is too valuable to waste so we HAVE to stand up and be counted.

If you see an inappropriate story, then flag it (e.g. Off Topic, Innapropriate, Adult, etc.). I'm not sure if this would work, but it doesn't hurt to try. Not just recent stories, any story. We can help keep Is It Normal? online by flagging any story that we see as inappropriate. So if IIN does get sued, then at least these types of stories will be in the appropriate section. We may not win the case, but it would hurt.

I yhink we owe it to ourselves to be vigilent. Either we do it or we lose the site, which, in my eyes, would be bad news since it is the only site I know of without moderators. They come in here and MOST stories would never make it to the public area.
If we try to be half ways reasonable, we can make it I am sure. Don't forget the net police may well have accounts here also and stupid stories with content which is not legal in any of our countries, either singly or totally, are liable to cause problems for the posters of these stories. It is not hard, with the assistance of Udi, to track the where abouts of the 'bad' posters. Something you should all think about before posting.
