He appears to have very little self-esteem, and his lack of trust in you reflects that. He also lacks respect for you, which is reflected by his physical aggressiveness. Last, he fails to honor your need to have control of your own life by not supporting your wish to return to college or to spend time with your friends. His fascination with the video games and poker may just be his way of disconnecting from the world. He sounds like a frustrated and angry person in general; the type of guy who is probably not going to be very open to free communication on this particular topic.
