People are going to stare. Anyone who looks a bit different gets stared at, and the weirder you dress, the more people feel entitled to gawk. Where I live, I get stared at for not looking like a mall threw up on me, so it's not something you're ever going to escape from.

The pointing and laughing you have brought upon yourself though. Wearing black and dyeing your hair is expressive, but I personally think that caking makeup on your face is a little too much effort and probably makes you look ridiculous. Some people don't laugh because you're different, they laugh because you're trying too hard.

I don't want to cause offence, but nothing you have written here makes you "gothic". "Goth" is something that a few people arrive at naturally because it feels comfortable.. not something you can achieve by cultivating your bright blue hairstyle. Being a part of the subculture, listening to the music, being creative and open minded, having an interesting sense of humor even.. are some of the things that make a person "gothic". The only reason I can see for "goths" dressing the way they do is because they are sensitive enough to have a feel for the aesthetic of what they choose to wear. Being called a freak wouldn't faze you if you knew this and were proud of who and what you are.

As for whether or not being a Satanist makes you "insane", if you were part of the subculture you would be open minded enough to know that all faiths, even the faith in nothingness, is acceptable, and that you have the right to believe whatever you choose.

Remember, less is more. Those that are truly apart of something special never need to say the words "I'm gothic". They are secure in themselves already.

The way you ask the question makes it clear that you are aware that the clothes you choose to wear and the way you choose to use makeup and dye as well as the things you choose to admit about your religious ideas affects how people react to you. Before you started doing these things you probably didn't know how people would react to them. Now that you do it is your choice whether you want people to react that way or not. If you choose to keep doing these things then their reactions must not bother you enough to change the way you present yourself.

Maybe you would like to be able to make people accept you and treat you differently even though you present yourself in a dramatic way. Unfortunately I don't know of anyone who can do this. The way people react to others depends entirely on how they present themselves.
