Ok, so normally I usually sleep a lot, like at least 8 hours on a normal day and up to 12+ on days when I have nothing to do. And that is all in one stretch - maybe I wake up and find that theres nothing for me to be awake for and go back to sleep. I like sleep and dreaming and everything about sleep.
However, I'm in college and particularly lazy, so I end up pulling all nighters all the time before deadlines. Now whenever I pull these all nighters, I find myself far more "excited" during the day - almost hyper. I talk faster, think of more jokes and just generally want to do stuff.
Sometimes when I start pulling all nighters, I can go 36 hours, without sleep, feeling fine the whole time, then 3 hour nap and then be awake for another 24.
Am I normal? Surely this is fucked up, I've heard of people crashing their cars because they hadn't slept the night before, but I write final exams after pulling all nighters all the time. Coffee and redbull doesn't seem to change anything (or make me more awake), I feel the same, but my stomach is upset after both of them.
Like I said before, usually I sleep for about half the day and I find getting up for a regular day at school harder than stay up all night. But once I pull the first all nighter, I can usually cut back my sleep to 2-4 hours a day for a while.
And no, I'm not manic - this doesn't ever happen without me conciously needing to stay up all night to study/finish assignemts.
It's always best to go to bed/sleep and arise at about the same time every day, and also to eat nutrional meals at about the same time too.
I'm an insomniac, but I love my position. Being up at night is amazing (even if you are cramming for midterms, and I know that feeling), and the hyperactivity you described is something that can be found as quite exhilirating.
It's normal to have strange sleeping habits, especially in these days of electricity and 24 hour diners. Stop worrying about it and enjoy it!
its normal, and natural.
Its probably normal but sleep is important, get it checked out.
i think it's normal, at least.
